Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

So I should know in a few days if I have landed a new job closer to home. Currently I commute 122 miles round trip. Needless to say my gas bill is crazy. If I do get this closer to home job I should be able to commute by bike at least half of the week, 12 miles round trip max. And then I saw this on one of the blogs I read, $4 gas kick bike sales into high gear http://www.startribune.com/business/18843414.html Looks like I am not the only person getting his a$$ kicked by Exxon.

I have included the link to my friend Tim’s blog http://masiguy.blogspot.com , check out Tim’s blog has lots of great links to other bike and racing sites.

THats awesome BP. I wish I could change jobs and commute by bike! I drive 40 miles round trip. It's not that bad, but it DOES add up in the gas tank! There is a hospital about 3 miles from me, but they are NEVER hiring for full time LPNs and I have to work full time in order to pay bills... Pft!

I've been biking to work this week as part of a Bike to Work Week in Columbus. I have to say it's not nearly as horrible as I pictured it would be. I'm only 5 miles from work when I don't have to drop my DD at child care. Alas, that's only half the week.

Wow, you all have been busy today!

ZZ- your fuzzy slippers are soooo cute!

J- Convention? Sounds kinda fun, will think on it!

TX- 1) girl you DO have big feet! LOL 2) I'm so glad your band situation is resolved!

BP- Good luck on the new job! That would be a nice transition for you.

I would love to bike to work, but I could never work all day being sweaty. I know people who do it, and they don't stink, but I would worry. Blech!

J - just finished your 2 pairs of identical shoes. Lol. They are CUTE! I'll send you a pic probably tomorrow... I'm not in the mood to upload my camera tonight. Haha!

Stef - I have done one pair for you... working on the next one now... I'll send you pics tomorrow as well.

Do you know what I've eaten today?

pint of Cookies n cream ice cream

one of the '99cent' size bags of honey BBQ Fritos.

Ugh. I think I need an intervention!

Cool about the flip flops. I'm gonna mail you a check. PM me with your address.

Now I'm going to jump on your head:

You need to fuel your body with good, healthy food. Just because the band allows you to eat less crappy food doesn't mean that eating crappy food is okay.

Your body need nutrition to function well. You need the stuff that's in vegetables and protien. What do you do for a living? Oh, yeah, something medical, right? Well think about the fuel you are sticking in your body. Crap will make you feel crappy.

Care about your intestines, your stomach, the fat on your ass, yourself and make some better choices. You know what you should be doing. Now do it.

I heart you. I don't think I should quit my day job for that motivational speakers' gig...

Hi Erikadawn,

If you only ridden once, yeah it's just going to hurt until you get used to the seat. You'll find that it hurts less and less and within 2 weeks you shouldn't be sore anymore.

But if it has been two weeks and you've ridden a few times, how old is the saddle on your bike? If it's old and brittle get a new one. Well get a new one regardless, if your tushy is still hurting.

And don't think that bigger is better because that's not the case. There are woman designed seats you might want to check out. You can get new seats at large box stores like Target, but you might want to check out the local bike shop in your area. The people that work at those places aren't going to give you greif for being overweight either. They love biking and love to help people get on bikes.

Hope that helps.

You kill me! LOL Don't give up your day job! Weren't you just posting about the eloquence or gentleness of sign language or somethin' like that?!

However, you always have good advice! I almost cried. I feel motivated even though you weren't talking to me!

So today I am scheduled for my first fill! Woo Hoo! I am so excited, but also a little nervous. I don't want to be turned down. I keep reading all these posts from people that went in for it and were told they've lost enough without it. I am worried about that. I do NOT want to have to kick his chair!! ;0)

Then of course I have to worry about the 'overfilling' if I do get filled. I am worried about the after effects that if it's too tight and I can't drink Water or something! LOL It's just all the unknowns for me! So exciting and scarey! Good thing though that my surgeon and I are both on call this weekend!

Well C,

If they do turn you down, pout and cry, kick his chair.

But trust that it's for the best. There's a finite amount of room in that there band and it's better to use it when you need it.

HOWEVER, tell him you are HUNGRY all the time. You are for the most part, right? And that the weight loss you've had has been from determination not from just not feeling hungry and not wanting to eat.

And the other thing is the first fill sometimes doesn't feel like much, so don't expect to have perfect restriction either....it is better to creep up on the perfect fill than to be over filled...

Keep us posted.

Yeah, I'm planning on it. I really don't want him to make me do that!

Yes, I'm hungry! I plan on telling him this AGAIN!!

I agree. I am not necessarily in THAT big of a hurry. I want to do this right.

I heart you J! You are so sweet! Thank you!

J - I KNOW!!! Ugh. So... today I broke down and went to the grocery store. I bought chicken!!! Lol. I haven't eaten meat in over 3 months... don't really want to, but I KNOW I'm not getting *any* nutritional Protein. I bought the veggie fed, no added hormones or antibiotic chicken... and it BETTER be what they say it is, cause I paid a pretty penny for it! I'm baking some lightly seasoned beaten down chicken strips now. Smells good... I'll let you all know how it goes. I also bought some other random things... bout one pack of tuna, haven't had it though since I PBd on it back in Sept! Lol.

C - I hope you got your fill and all is well!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
