So I want to share my latest stuck story. Yesterday I went in and had a small fill, and was on liquid yesterday and mush today. Work took me to a fundraiser today and President. Bush was the main guest. Before the President came into the room to give his speech there were light finger-food and some different fruit stuff. Well I had not eaten all day and was starved and went out on a limb. Man was that a huge mistake. A had two bites of crab cake and chewed and chewed until the bites were liquid and one sip of Water. I didn’t take another bite, because I could feel I was stuck. Well sometimes it passes and other times (not often) it turns into a PB. Well with all theses people around and secret service looking for people acting strange I had a PB. I was able to excuse myself from the main room and thankfully it was early and not too many people had made it in. After about three minutes of steady gagging I was no longer stuck. Tons of very strange looks and a few secret service taking into there coat sleeves but I was not taken into custody. My lesson for today; chew, chew, and chew some more and when you think you have chewed enough chew a few more times.

BP! Sorry to hear about your ordeal today. I'm glad you made it through, relatively unscathed.

On the other hand, that is the first lengthy post that I recall from you and it displays your wonderful sense of humor! I love it! You're a good fit here! LOL Post more often!

BP,

That's a contender for the "Best PB Story EVER" catagorie.

I'm sure it was no fun at the time, but gald you came away from it no worse for wear.

How's the cycling going?

Tempting, very tempting. I'm supposed to be in Boston on the 8th. If I can push that out even a day or two, might be able to make my way up there (drive from TX to MI, then on to MA.) Lemme check on it.

BG: I haven't checked to see how far this ride is from me, but I'm guessing I'll need to stay overnight the night before. So I would be interested in a hotel in the area!! If you know of any good ones nearby. If everyone is gonna gather near your house, that's where I'll go too!

That's quite a lot of driving, but we'd so love to see you!

It is - if I didn't have to be in Boston for work immediately after, I'd be all over it. That much driving + a bike ride = not ready to sit in meetings all day for the next 4.5 days... There is a way to pack the entire bike in a hard-shell golf carrier + 1 largish suitcase for the wheels - I might look into that so I could fly. Give me a couple of days to see if I can't work it out. If not, we'll figure some way for me to get up there or y'all down here this summer.

SUZZIE!!!!!!!

Read what your saying is at the bottom of your posting.......I actually copied it and printed it and put it up at work (to keep me from drinking pop)

YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU SET YOUR MIND TOO. I thought I would die last year with BG and J and JC on our ride.......We dont have to do the longest ride there.......and we could pair up.....I ride allot with my 14 year old....so I am game for whatever....

Believe in YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!

Hugs to all

Thanks HP. I'd totally love to do it. Gosh. I have such little faith in myself. It's been a rough few days.

Weather here sucks arse. Been raining and hailing and such for days. We'll have a good day... but I'm always busy and *can't* ride. I need to get my booty on that bike and make it a priority. I know that once I have a few good successful rides that I'll be even more hooked. RIght now I think I"m just at the point where the idea is better than the doing part. Lol. Thinking about riding doesn't hurt my butt.. or my pride!

OK, next dry, non-freezing day I will get on that bike and make it count... even if it's only a mile.

What is the date of the ride ya'll are thinking about?

I'm a rock star. I just have to say this has nothing to do with cycling or losing weight but with school.

I know, I bitch and moan about having to do it all the time and it's only getting tougher, but I'm getting my stuff done and it feels great.

I've just finished a paper and some other homework a day early so I can attend a coference tomorrow...W00T.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
