Add me if you are on MySpace! smile.gif

Here's my link: MySpace.com - Robbie & Stef - 40 - Female - FORT WORTH, TEXAS - www.myspace.com/stefanie_stanphill

Hi Stef! I'm new to MySpace but I requested to be your friend! My page is plain and I don't have many friends yet. I always forget to get on there. I like your page though. Nice!

J- I'm happy to see your TOSRV ticker!!! Now all we need is some decent weather! Are you going to Polaris tomorrow?

Polaris is up in the air. I just don't know. I have homework to do, but it might make a good distraction, a way to get out of the house for me and Zoe. I asked a neighbor for a playdate but haven't heard back. If they say yes, then no, we'll not go to Polaris...

I hate to be noncommital, but I really don't know right now.

I will be signing up for TOSRV tomorrow!

Yay for TOSRV! My DH and DD are for sure going to ride. I am for sure going to SAG. I sure hope to see you there! They haven't signed up yet though. Maybe they should get on it!

I'm not coming to C-bus. I'm sure the roads will be better, but it's just too much driving in one day to not get to spend some time there (more than just the meeting). If you go, let me know how it went and stuff!

Guess what guys!?!?! My bike is up and running - AND I learned how to ride. Lol. After my dad put on the nwe tires and tightened up the brakes my lil brother Matt, who is like 10 or 11 years old, kept trying to get me to ride. I was like "Nooo! I'll fall off!!" He kept telling me that he'd catch me. He's such a cutie! So I hopped on and 'rode for a while with one foot on the ground before I finally got up the courage to put that foot on the proper pedal. Ha! It was so awesome!! I was flying - until my 1 1/2 year old nephew ran out in front of me and I paniced and jumped off the bike. (I couldn't even think to break, just jumped off.)

Anyway, I'm very very excited. Now it's getting cold for a few more days. Tuesday supposed to me in the 60s though... so I may try a ride on a public street... we'll see how that goes. I should probably get a helmet before then!!

BTW, I'm MySpace.com - www.myspace.com/7225871

Just don't ever leave a public comment about lap band, cause I have family there who don't know about the surgery. I'm sneaky.

For pity's sake, you are not bad people and it's hardly a huge deal.

Yesterday I looked at my stats and got upset that I had only lost 28 pounds in the last 6 months. Then a while later I thought that's 28 pounds I'll never see again and it is better than a pound a week, so get over it.

But it does hightlight the point that I could be doing more and better...oh come on spring! Do normal sized people fight weight issues more in the winter too?

At anyrate, thanks for the shout outs.

Catching up.....Congrats J on getting to your 1 year mark.....Look at how far you have come in 1 year.....you are truly amazing and should be so proud of YOU!!!!! You have allot to look forward to this next year, and getting to your goal will be so much easier with your attitude and determination.....:smile2:

I have my space too...I will add all who would like to be added.

Ok, So...I have my new bike...it is a Giant road bike with flat handelbars. I know I am a woooseeee!!! But......for me, and for now, that was the most comfortable position at this time.

ANYWAY.. I ended up trading out the cage pedals and got Shimano SPD M520...yea...OK????

attached is the picture of them. I also, was fitted for Diadora shoes. So, I may not be curled over on the "real" road bike, I will be upgrading allot from my comfort bike of last season to this one. He told me that watching me ride both (the LBS guy) that I looked more comfortable on this and he felt like I could easily achieve my goals this riding season. So...That is what I have done.

Now...we have 8 inches of snow, it is 40 today which is good...but the roads are not in the best shape for riding I am afraid. Plus....I dont own a trainer, so I will be learning how to ride with clipeless on th road....

Anyone with suggestions or advice....I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT....

TAKE CARE EVERYONE......

ZZ: SO FREAKIN' COOL! You got your bike all decked out AND you learned to ride it!!! WOOT WOOT! Hey, we all gotta start somewhere and kudos to you for giving it a go. You MUST get a helmet and soon! LOL You may want to practice braking before you get on any public streets too. You can do it! :smile2:

HP: Awesome! Very cool pedals! You don't need a trainer to learn how to use them. Just stick to neighborhood roads and places with less traffic before you go all out! I think I posted a few pages back to get the hang of your new pedals, practice with the foot/leg you tend to put down first when you stop your bike. You may need to adjust your pedals (tighten or loosen the clips) until you get it just right. Don't make it too loose though, that could be bad--you'd slip all the time. You should be able to just use a quick "kick" with your heel to the side and you should be released. It takes a little practice so really don't go far until they're adjusted right. If they are too tight, you are locked in and will crash!! If you are really worried about it, you LBS may have a trainer you could hook your bike to and they could do the adjusting for you. All depends on the LBS and their policy.

Hope that helps!

Yes thin people struggle in the winter too. Most of my friends have an extra 5-10 pounds they carry until May.

I went to a euchre paarty last night (euchre is a sweet ass card game for those who don't know) and of the 12 women that were there I was the second thinnest. Now that was weird.

HP - C made an excellent point about having your LBS adjust your pedals while you are on the trainer. I was at a training ride yesterday for the MS150 and watched a very seasoned rider fall TWICE, while not even rolling yet...just trying to get in and out of his Shimanos because he had just adjusted them. It was really kind of scary watching that and feeling helpless! I hope you can get the LBS to fix you up before you start with them on the road.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
