Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

I have been riding with my 9 year old son. We do 4 miles around the neighborhood. He is a football player, a little chunky, and wants to slim down a little and get faster. I feel proud that he is interested in getting fit.

ParaGirl,

That's fantastic. It's great to be out doing exercise with your son! Being active with my daughter was a giant motivator for me.

You are doing great too! 53 pounds since October is amazing! Welcome to our wacky world.

J

Look at you at 201.

I am tired of snow. It snowed another couple inches after I got to work.

Saturday is my anniversary. I would be uber cool to see the ones by then. You'd think I'd work extra hard to make that happen, but I'm not feeling the extra part. I work plenty hard most of the time.

But thanks for noticing.

Hi everyone!

I need some help...I have an "extra" appointment with my surgeon tomorrow (one that I requested this early, instead of waiting until the one two weeks before surgery). I am going to talk to him about the Realize band, Lap Band options (APS, APL). If you were to do it over again, what would you ask, or request?

I would request an APS because I have the older 10cm band. Plus there are more Allergen bands around than the Realize ones.

I went to spin class tonight and used my new shoes. OMFG I frigging love them. It might have been the best spin class ever. It definitely felt weird to walk in my regular shoes after class.

Yeah, it's fun to spend the state's money.

And I do buy stuff with my own dollars for me too while I'm there...nice perk.

My fingers are crossed for you B. Hope you get that call too. We'd love to share our nasty cold winters with you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
