Wow! I can't imagine even running...I was never much of a runner, but always wanted to. I love the show The Biggest Loser and it just amazes me that they have them running so early in the process. It's a great way to burn calories though! That's it, I've decided, it will be a goal this year! Maybe doing that intermittent walk/run method is a good way to start. I still want to bike too. I found out tonight that the bike club here will have a morning ride on Saturday's this year...that will be nice. I'll be able to participate in it 4 per week. It is usually about 30 miles/2 hours in the mornings (Dawn Patrol).

I miss school. I was so much more productive when I was in school. (sigh)

Oh, and my first name is Carol

Chicago is my kind of town.

I'm there every few months and in August BG and I are doing the Muddy Buddy in there.

Cool! I haven't been to Chicago in years (and the last half-dozen visits were just connections through O'Hare, which doesn't really sell the city very well). I'm kind of excited about the possibility. I'll probably bach' it until we sell the house - so I've been looking at apartments on the lake online. I could get into that...

Once you were banded, was it easy? How hard did you have to work on the diet/exercise part?

Don't want to dampen you enthusiasm, but no - not really that easy. It's a tool, just like the bike. I'm not exquisitely happy with mine, but I weigh less than I have since 1990ish, so I can't bitch about it too much.

Oh, and my first name is Carol

Hi Carol - C?

D - glad that you checked in.

BG - Hope the job interview went well. BTW - how is Jenn doing with her band?

C - Right now, I am very frustrated about not being able to eat any meat. Doesn't matter how fine I grind it, how long I chew it, it won't go down. So, I try to get by on Protein Shakes. Sounds good in theory - and I've lost quite a bit of weight. The problem, though, is that it's cold, so I want soups/chili, etc. -- basically stuff that has too many calories (and carbs) for good weight loss. Or, I get tired of the Protein shakes, so I look for other tasty things that go down, like Peanut Butter (100kcal/tbsp), Starbucks - avg of 400kcal for the things I like.

Also, there are weird things that I have no problem with - chips (potato and corn), and other strange crap that I shouldn't eat any of anyway.

Like I said earlier, I weigh less now than since 1990, so I can't bitch too much. And, it gives me an "excuse" to skip events that, in general, aren't good for me to attend.

Right now, my plan is to get an unfill as far as is necessary to get meat down (which hopefully, I can get meat down at fully unfilled). I'll have to be more careful, but in the long run, it would improve my morale and happiness with the band.

weird...wonder why that is B?

I've seen other posts that people have complained about the same thing, yet unlikely foods will go down without any trouble at all. Aren't you worried that if you unfill completely you'll gain?

It's kind of tricky I'm learning...you need to have satisfaction/fulfillment from food, yet not let it own you. I'm not yet banded, so what the heck do I know, but I'm learning a great deal from all of you!

You've lost a great deal of weight though, so you should be proud.

Hey B good to see you, and Chicago is not too far from here. You can meet J and I at the Muddy Buddy.

D glad to know you are still kicking girl. You are doing amazing in school and you are so close to being finished.

My band hates solid brekfast. I have to be up for hours before I can eat real food.< /p>

The interview went very well I think. It as more of a conversation than a firing off of questions so I feel pretty good about it. She is interviewing about 4 more people and I will know in a few weeks if I have a second interview or not.

J I got new bathing suits. Juniors size XL top and L bottoms. The bottoms might be a little tight but in the summer they should fit. I heart Target.

And as a disgusting sidenote, I smell pee right now which only leads me to assume that my son pissed in my bed last night and DH did not clean up the mess. Fucking gross.

C - I think that it has to do with anatomy and band placement technique. It is a pain, and in fact, the your-milage-may-vary part of lapband life is one of the things that kept me from getting it for a few years.

While, statistically speaking, I am more likely to gain weight if I get unfilled, I think that for now, and for me, the risk is worth it. The great thing about the lapband is that you can keep making adjustments until it is "just right". The person who inspired me to go ahead and get the band has lost 140 pounds in the last 2 years. He can eat anything he wants, but not much of it at all. That's where I want to be, even if it means losing at a slower rate.

HP - I thought that Indiana was closer to Chicago.. Do you live at the southern end?

BG - I'm sure you did great in the interview. Eeeewwwwwwwwww, though, on the pissy bed.

BG-I hate when they pee in the bed. Uck. Good to know the interveiw went well. I'll keep my fingers crossed until we know for sure. It will be hard to type but worth it.

I heart target too. I bought a suit there yesterday too. tankini thingy. Go Target!

B-Meat is a pain in the ass. I have to take it slowly, but I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't eat it. Might I suggest make a meatloaf with lots of milk soaked bread as the binder. It makes it really moist and soft...I'll find a recipe if you're interested. It might have to wait for the unfil but it's my first meat after fills.

The GF is talking about getting a position in Chicago soon. She's from there and her mother is aging. She wants to live part time with her and commute home to Columbus on the weekends with me. That would be so sweet. I like the idea of going to Chicago frequently myself. It's my favorite city! And it has me seeing her much more frequently. But it is just in the beginning stages...

Dude, you move to Chicago, I'll see you in April. I think that's my next trip there.

C-

Glad to see you popping in here. ;)

HP and D,

Howdy chicas. Good to see you D. You look amazing in your pic.

B, yes I live in the southern part of Indiana. I am about 2.5 hours away from Indy. There is a new casino opened in French Lick, In. (Larry Bird is from there) and I am about 10 min from there in the country.

J and BG, I am jealous!!!! Have a great day!!!!!

Hi everyone! Whew, what a long day...everybody having a good weekend so far?

BG and J- I'm jealous too! Have a great time girls!

B-I'm sorry you are so frustrated with your band right now. Try to hang in there. I have gathered from most of the people that come to LBT that there are periods like this, but keep up the good work. Try the different recipes, keep talking to your doctor, you are gonna do great!

So I have a question about bicycling...

What are your thoughts on using a trainer, a stationary bike or a recumbant?

Mamma said there'd be days like this... ;)

C - Thanks! I know it's just a phase. I was able to get some finely shredded brisket down tonight, which made me feel a lot better.

I have a recumbent bike that I ride on the road (Bacchetta Giro), and an indoor training stand that I put it on in the house. Each (upright & recumbent) have their advantages and disadvantages. My primary goal is not go fast, although I go faster on the recumbent - even up hill, but go far, very far. While a well-adjusted upright should cause minimal discomfort, at the end of the day, you are resting most of your weight on two circles about the size of a pre-SBA silver dollar. On a recumbent, some (and many times a lot) of your weight is on your back. At the end of the day, it's a decision you will need to make based on your riding goals. I don't evangelize about them, but I will evangelize about getting some kind of bike and getting out and riding the damn thing. As for a training stand (and stationary bike), they are boring as can be (I watched 25 miles of beige wall go by the other day - not fun at all), but they do get you turning the pedals when it's too hot, too cold, too wet, too early, too late, whatever, to ride outside. They also allow you to remove some of the variables associated with riding outside to focus on specific training goals - time in the saddle, targeted heart rate, cadence, etc. Do you have a surgery date yet?

HP - I notice some ticker movement! Way to go! French Lick, huh? That sounds kind of fun

J - Yes, please send any recipes that you have had good luck with. Hope you, BG, and the girls have a good day!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
