Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

BG,

Go shopping.

B,

Be giddy as you want. IMHO, you need to get the clips now and do the learning curve all at once. The recumbant and the clip-ola thing. But what do I know.

And everyone, I just want to say the scale had me down 2 more pounds this morning. I don't trust it, so I didn't change my ticker or signature...but holy crap, I'm excited.

I was plateaued for so long I feel I'm finally gettign results.

Wow J - that's great! I understand, though, about not trusting the scale. Hopefully it will still be speaking the truth tomorrow!!!

Not sure on the clipless at first. I hear what you're saying - might as well get all the falling on my ass done at one time. I want speedplays, though, so that's all or nothing. Like Cortez burning his ships, that would make me well motivated to figure it out!

Well, there are two bike stores within .5 miles of my house, one of which is a licensed retailer.....

I'm looking for a peddal system this spring....so you're saying they're good, huh?

I haven't used them - my Trek came with Shimano SPDs. Every one I've talked to about it raves about the speedplays, though. I believe that TX has a set. Got the Trek all cleaned up - hopefully she'll fetch a good trade in. Sad to see it go, but it deserves to be with someone who can ride it.

I think someone was either hurt very badly or killed outside my house like an hour ago. There are like 7 police cars with the road all blocked off. There was obviously an accident but the cars did not look bad so I think it may have been a pedestrian. I am a bit freaked out right now.

BG - Hope that everything's okay. All the kiddos & hubby present and accounted for?

J - Not me, I never rationalize anything. But ya know, if I had a good pedal system, I would be able to ride much farther with less fatigue :)

Walked for about 30 minutes this afternoon and rode the exercise bike for 45 minutes tonight. Go me!

B - That rocks with you getting a new bike! Give wifey extra kisses for the support! Absolutely...you are on starting in January! And I agree with J on the pedals...do it all at once. I love my Speedplays, but they absolutely took some getting used to. Oh, and rationalization never comes into play when it comes to "TOOLS". It's all "TOOLS" to aid you to better health, right? <wink> (I don't rationalize, either. And you sound as spoiled as me!) I hope all turned out well over your way...watching the news now.

J - WOO-HOO on two more pounds gone, girlie! LOVE IT! Thanx for the kudos on my quitting smoking! It DOES feel good to not smoke anymore. (And thanks for the comment about the clips I put in....I think they are fun and I'm glad folks like them.)

D - As the song goes, "Don't drink, don't smoke...what do ya do?" I'm in the same boat with ya, girl! Happier for it, too! Thanx for the congrats!

BG - 13 minute mile! WOW! You rock, mama! I hope to be able to do that someday!

TX - I like that, tools they are :) What happened over here - missed the news last night.

BG - Hope everything is okay in your neighborhood.

Have a good day all; I'll check in later after I pick up the bike!!!

As for what happened last night I have no clue. The cops were out there for about 2 hours re routing traffic and investigating something. I can't find anything online or in the news papers yet so maybe it was not that bad.

Hmmm. Looks like my new-found resolve has paid off. I've lost 3 pounds since Tuesday. Mostly Water, I'm sure, but I'll take it. Got to move the ticker for the first time since Halloween.

You'd think that doing the right thing and seeing the quick results would be reinforcing. Hopefully, it will be ... for a while at least.

BG - I notice that your ticker has also moved a few more pounds south of 200. Way to go!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
