Oh my god, I hope you are ok JC. Be freakin' careful.... Good god, you are going in for surgery here in a couple of days!!! 80 muthaeffin miles????????????????????? You are a freak!! I wish my boyfriend was like you!!!! I HAD to say that. Shit I got in a measly 32 miles this weekend. Better get up in the morning and go some more then. You guys really are inspiration!!!!

Got done with my second week on the couch to 5k program. I am loving, loving and loving the shit out of it. It is great!!! I thought my legs were getting shapely from biking but damn....this jogging really has an effect on your shape of your leg muscles. WAY FREAKIN COOL!!

So tomorrow we are off to in laws for BBQ......hmmm, I can't even think about this tonight. I am soooooo not thinking about everyone shoving food in their faces. I am thinking about just taking Protein Drinks and not eating so I don't get stuck in front of anyone. I am still in this new phase of my life....its called "Deanna can't seem to understand what slow the fuck down and eat SMALL SMALL bites and CHEW CHEW CHEW very well before swallowing or you will be stuck" means. SOOoooooo, I am still getting stuck, but NOT if I slow down and use my baby spoons I purchased right after surgery.

I hope you all have a great Labor Day and get some really good quality time on your bikes!! I know I plan on it in the morning before converging on the orgy of food that is planned at the bbq.

Biking is soooo Fetch!!!

D I feel ya.

I too am having the PB's from hell solely because I'm eating too quickly. And it's always when I'm alone, because when I'm with people the last thing I want to do is slime and heave so I'm uber careful.

I love the restriction, but damn! What a literal pain!

Good luck at the BBQ. You're strong, you'll do well.

JC, you're a maniac!

D, 32 miles is no small feat! Remember I am but a lowly flatlander!

J, I quite possibly am a Maniac!

So, it's Monday morning and I would have probably slept all day except I believe I sprained my lower lumbar on my right side the pain is radiating all the way to my toes indicating that the old siatic (sp) nerve is involved. Funny thing is there is a knot in the center of my back as well. The thing that makes this funny to me is it is from leaning on my wallet that was in my camelback strapped behind my seat. Easily avoided unless you're a dork. :-) Any way I am thinking a 5-6 mile walk/jog ought to loosen me up enough to stop thinking of pain meds, at least for a while.

Here is a link to some pics I took with my new phone. The thing is truly amazing. The one pic that has a lake, phone booth and such has a road sign that reads Ocala 24 miles. Ocala is 60 miles from my house.

I wish everyone a safe and good day on this Holiday. Beware of BBQ, PB's and narrow trails!

I almost forgot, I have now gained 10 pounds since being unfilled. I am not sure if I can exercise enough to keep the weight off, if they remove my band.

I sure have been there....LOL...some days we think we can get out there and attack the world, and only end up with 10 ole miles.......but.....it was always more than I had been doing, so i just went on.

Seats are soooo hard to get use to..I still dont think I like mine, but I am looking at changing to a road bike, so, no sense changing the seat any time soon....

I have not rode all weekend. We have been so busy with the new pup, and running my kids, we have not made the time. It is a shame too...been nice weather.

So, we are taking the canoe to the lake today...we will see how that goes. It will be the first time out in the Water with it......hope we dont sink.

Now....

JC.....you rode how many miles??????????????????? Are you NUTS??? I bet it was awesome though.......I cannot imagine riding that long on good ole hybrid bike.....LOL

J and D...I wish I had a better restriction at times..

B where you been this weekend???

BG....?????

Getting used to the seat takes a little doing. Give it another day and just ride through the pain. Don't wait too long though, because the you'll need to start from zero again. I don't know the science behind it, I just know that you have got to get up on it and ride....annyoing I know.

So people, dog lovers amoung us, it looks like it's getting closer and closer to the time when I need to put my dog of over 12 years down. Trying to find the balance between her quality of life and dealing with her failing abilities is hard. She's happy to sleep 23 hours a day, but she keeps away from the family. She pees in the house even if we are home. She can't hear much or see well.....

Then there's the whole thing about sharing the death of a pet with a 6 year old. Any pointers?

So bummer thread but you guys are my peeps....

Do you track your calories? Are you continuing to be mindful of calories in verses calories burned?

I'd hate to see you lose your band, but if it happens you still can be successful at keeping your weight off. It will be hard and you'll need to retool your thinking, but if anyone can do it you can! :cheer2:

I had to put my dog of 13 years down. My 5 1/2 year old son is still having difficulty with it. (it's been 8 months) The only thing I would say is let him/her know that the dog is in great pain, and will be very happy in doggy heaven. It was very sad for quite a while. Just talk to him/her and when they bring it up let them talk too. I don't know if you've ever had to do this before... but, it's MUCH harder than you think.

Thanks for the response. Sad to say this will be my 3rd pet in my adult life I'll have lost.

As for my kid, I've started to plant the seed that Kira is old and will die soon. She says that she will miss Kira but in the same breath she's asking if we can get a new pet as soon as she is gone. Ugh. A new pet is the furthest thing from my mind.

Again, thanks.

Hey gang, just taking it easy this weekend, and trying not to spend too much time dorking on the computer... Went to a BBQ at my grandparents last night. I never noticed how much smell plays a part in appetite. Things smelled sooo good, which made it even worse, since I couldn't have any of it. I was a good boy and ate my 1/3 cup of Protein pudding (woo hoo). I was shocked and amazed that my grandparents didn't make a big fuss over me not eating. Was afraid I was going to have to yell at them (we're italian, nobody pays any attention to anything unless it is yelled).

JC - good for you - 80 miles is a great day riding! Hope to be there, and beyond, by next spring. Will require a lot of work, but it will be worth it. Sorry to hear that you have gained some back. Like J and others have said, we're here for you.

D - 32 miles is great! I've been able to get about an hour a day on the trainer, which doesn't provide near the workout that "real-world" riding does (also boring as hell.)

J - Are you recovered from your ride? Sorry to hear about Kira. I had to put my lab girl, Brandy, down about 2 years ago. She was 14 1/2, and had been my companion for all of my adult life - moving with me across country 3 or 4 times over the years, and she had more frequent flier miles than many business people who travel regularly. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but she told me when it was time. (alright, time for me to go cry some...)

LS - Don't wait more than a day or so between rides, especially at the beginning, or it will continue to hurt to ride. I also recommend getting proper padded bike shorts, it will make a world of difference. At least in Florida, once you get used to it, you can ride year 'round, so you won't have to start from scratch again each year when bike season rolls back around.

Hi all. Went riding this morning. WHOAW!!! I think that is what it was. Heres the story. We were going along nicely at 15 miles and decide to turn around. We are on back country roads. I am looking at my tire, thinking it has a flat. I decide it doesn't and the next thing I hear is DH yelling. I look back and he is back aways off his bike. I go back and HE HAS A FLAT TIRE!!! First on on the roads. So, we change it and go to leave, and I have a freakin flat on my bike too!!!! It is hotter than hell out so we pump mine up to see if we can get to some shade to change it. We go about 2 miles and no shade in site and it has to be changed. We stop and change it. DH is almost a bike mechanic at this point in the trip. We get going again and about 5 miles up the road is a little convenience store. We stop to get drinks. WISH IT WOULD OF BEEN VODKA FOR WHAT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN NEXT!! DH goes in, gets drinks and comes out. We are sitting on some cement blocks on the side of the store. Here comes this truck pulling up and runs over a root beer can FULL OF FREAKIN' POP. Betcha can't guess where the pop from the can went? All over me and DH!!!!!!! Oh my god, I was so pissed. This old Indian guy, (we were on the Indian Reservation) gets out of his truck on his cell phone and tells who ever he is talking to what just happened. All you can hear coming from the phone is laughing. I turned around and told the old shit I didn't think it was really all that funny, but glad someone did. He gets off the phone and says, sorry about that, it just happened. Of course, I just looked down because my claws were out and I was ready to pounce. DH says its okay. IT WAS NOT OKAY, BUT WHAT THE FUCK AM I GOING TO DO ABOUT IT. ITS NOT LIKE HE DID IT ON PURPOSE. I am still pissed because we are freakin' covered in sticky pop, and these freakin' bees all of a sudden show up and think that we are lunch, I guess. Anyways, I am home showered, fed, and happy once again. Washing clothes now. Oh brother. What a bad ride, but I still had fun.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
