Morning Bikers!

I'm on the verge of going to the bike store to buy a new top since I am a 1x now or do I wait until spring. I know if I go to the store I'll be looking at a new peddal system and aerobars...it's just too much of a draw...I get sucked in...and money is tight. But when I rode last weekend, in a T shirt and bike short, I got so sweaty and you see it on the shirt when we stopped. I think it looks horrible and it's not just the regular pits and back and neck but where ever the T shirt touched my body.

I orginally told myself I'd wait until next spring to buy tops because they are so expensive...but...but....

And the thing is the selection isn't great but I could find something if I look...damn, damn, damn.

You know this is a problem because I'm planning on riding 54 this weekend and there will be pictures of me grinning like a jackass at the end. I don't want to look like someone doused me with a bucket of Water.

:)

Morning update, Day Two: They actually want me to be productive again today! WTF! (Those Bastages). So you get the drift of my work life. They schedule a rollout on the verge on a three day weekend. Can you guess who may have to work this weekend finishing up! = NO Bicycle for me, it figures, the Beast (my Blazer) is still on the operating table :-(

Such is my life!

J, it's not a sports bra but I did purchase some tighter fitting athletic shirts, this seemed to solve the runner's nipple issue.

D, I hope that stress level is better today (Big Stress Bustin Hug)

HP, The dreaded road bike bug, how bout that! I bought mine used from LBS 600.00 I didn't want to invest more not knowing if I would really be able to lose the weight.

B, you are going to turn in a 30 miler report this afternoon right? I mean the Doc gave you a green light and all! BTW how's Grumpy?

BG, are you trying to tell us you can't cook a pop-tart! I have visions of you and HP knocking out some Awesome campout... no maybe campfire food!!!

mcondjel, welcome to the insanity! A1A, gotta love the East coast, Which area are you in? I live in the cow pasture between Tampa and Orlando. We need to shorten your name pick a couple initials or we will pick on you! J/K LOL

JC - Probably not a 30-mile report, but maybe a 30-minute report... Give me a few weeks, and I'll be back on the real bike, riding real miles. Grumps is almost back to normal, she's going to have to be on a special diet for the next few weeks, but she will be fine. Thanks for asking! How's Buddy? Is he still staying with you?

J - I would recommend the jersey, especially for a 50-mile ride, but like you, I find it hard to go into the LBS to pick up one thing. It usually turns into 2 or 3, and instead of spending 50, I end up spending 200...

B, you know it's just all about the competition. I am pulling for ya to get that off-bike moniker changed!

As for Buddy he is really doing well, thanks. The ex stopped by last night to pick up John and asked if Bud was going home with her. I told her he probably should stay with me at least until his follow-up appointment. I gave him a big ol hug this morning, I love that dog.

I hear yeah - I want the off-bike thing to go away too. On the other hand, it's just 4 more weeks out of the rest of my life. Rather stay off of it and make sure I'm healed than to try to ride and fuck something up.

Glad to hear that you are getting to hang on to buddy for a while longer. Dogs are such great companions...

BG,

Girl, what's up?

All, I'm stoked for the cooler weather. And common sense prevailed (and sizing charts that say a 12 is an XL) so I didn't go to Performance Bikes...

I'll be fine in a Tshirt.

were having a bad evening here at our house.

I went to get some stuff in the truck tonight, and ran over a huge metal pipe in the road in front of our home.

We ad the sheriff here, and it was wedged up behind my left tire into my axle, and broke the emergency break line, and almost punctured the gas tank. We had a local guy take a saw to it and broke it loose, and they were able to get out..we are not sure how much damage...but needless to say my husband is PISSED.

So, no bike ride for me tonight....kinda sucked..

I am getting my new little Pom this weekend, which I am stoked about....she is a sweet heart....

There is a huge sale in Indianapolis this weekend on bikes. They are offering over 500 bikes for sale and it is make an offer.

Oh well, I hate to buy one that far away...rather go to LBS.

Hope everyone is well.

Traci

Climbed on the trainer last night. Turned the pedals at a pretty light intensity for 30 minutes. Felt like I could have gone much longer, but don't want to push too hard too soon. Will probably increase to 45 minutes tonight and then an hour tomorrow. Once I can go for an hour, I'll start to increase the intensity/resistance. Hopefully, by the time I can climb back on a real bike, my legs will be nice and strong. When combined with a significantly lower weight, I should be able to get to Biker Bitch status in a very short time...

Traci - Sorry to hear about your truck - that sucks... My wife did something similar in her 4runner a few years ago - impaled the engine on a pipe sticking out of the ground. Was no fun at all. Enjoy your new Pom & post some pictures when you get her.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
