Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

B- Gotta love that Syrup. I am so pissed that I forgot to get my refill before it expired. The number one reason I want a Tummy Tuck is not because my stomach looks like a butt, but because I want some more narcotics.

HP my daughter is 6 and the little hellion I call my son is 4. He will probably stay home. 40 miles will work for me too. I am sure I will be bringing up the rear with my big ass clunky mountain bike.

JC you are a maniac. You are the only person I know who would finish 5 miles after being bit by a dog. I have mental pictures of you prying the jaws of the dog off your arm and making a tourniquet out of a pair of panties. Seriously though are you ok?

Juli I cried my eyes out when Korrine started school last year. Now I can't wait until she goes back. I would pay them money to take her now. You will make it through the day and I bet she will have a blast! And your doggie I sooo cute.

J, what a pretty girl 12 years wow!

For the record I have been more concerned about injuring the bike. LOL but feel free to talk about those bits! :-)

I would like to add a mountain bike to the stable next year. I guess I will have to start attempting to educate myself on what is out there.

BG, it was pretty funny to me, because the two dingbats I was walking with had no idea the dog bit me until I told them. I had to show them the blood for them to believe me because I didn't even miss a step. I am fine it could have been bad but it wasn't.

J - Thanks for the welcome. Yep, the boy bits figure into the equation; however, a properly fitted bike, a properly adjusted seat, and a good pair of shorts with a nice chamois do reduce the impact on that area... Of course, the problem with good bike shorts is that now the boy bits are mostly on display, and nobody really needs to see a 300 pound guy and his bits in spandex. Mostly, I just like the idea of pedalling a sofa down the road! In the end, though, I will probably sell the hybrid and buy both a recumbent and a roadie. I can ride the recumbent for the longer Randonees and the roadie for riding with one of the local cycling clubs.

What a sweet doggie! Grumpy's best friend in the whole world (her boyfriend, actually) is a Wiemaraner. She loves that dog sooo much. They've been friends since she was about 2 1/2 months old. One day we took her to the park, and there was another wiemar playing with another little dog. She thought it was Luke. She came home and sulked and then acted out a little play with her toys - it was one of the cutest things ever. She beat the crap out of one of her stuffies while putting it next to a smaller stuffie - Then she took the little stuffie and put it in the far corner of the room - get away from my boyfriend you little chippie.... There are a bunch of Grumpy pics on our gallery page at http://gallery.mac.com/nbs101103#100039&bgcolor=black&view=mosaic&sel=1

JC - Man, that's just wrong that the ex took the dog... Good luck on the mountain bike search. The last time I seriously rode bikes, I had a mountain bike - bad choice since I mostly rode on the road. Nothing like trying to ride a century on a heavy bike with knobby tires. Yech...

BG - It will be a very sad day when I run out of the codeine Syrup. I have some prescription narcotic cough syrup that has some codeine in it, but it's not nearly as good...

Thanks again to everyone for your warm welcome. You all have been such an inspiration over the past few months - I'm amazed and heartened by the progress that everyone has made increasing their miles and speed. More than a few times, I have had to do the walk of shame up a hill that I just couldn't pedal up even in the granniest of granny gears. It's frustrating, but then I think - let's see Lance or Floyd try to bike up a goddamned hill at twice their current weight. And then, I think of everyone here, and I know that soon, I will be able to pedal up my current hard hills and even harder hills and longer distances at higher speeds and weigh less and be in better shape and on and on and on...

Well, off to my hourly two ounces of chicken broth. Don't want to miss out on that gourmet delight.

JC it amazes me that you can find humor in being bitten by a dog. I would be pissed and probably punch the dog in the face. Don't get me wrong I like dogs but not if they bite me.

I look pretty sweet in spandex shorts. Lots of ass in back and apparently one in front also. The cheapest ones I could find last weekend when I bought them were Mens. I got a large and they were kinda too big. I say kinda because they are big but my thieghs kinda blob out of the bottom of them because of the extra skin and fat. I don't want to get a smaller size and cut off my circulation.

Oh and just because we don't have man bits doesn't mean our woman parts don't hurt too =)

It would have pissed me off if I was injured bad enough to have to stop exercising. Me and that dog would probably still be going at it right now.

Do you all ever sleep? I logged off very late and there's a full page since then!

JC-I'm really scared of being bitten by a dog...well more like chased by a dog while riding. It happened when I was a teen and I freaked out. I think I'd do better now, but non-the-less...I can't believe you didn't miss a beat. You're insane.

HP-If your daughter is game for babysitting let us know. She can name her price. We'll probably be out for 5 hours. I'll start looking for hotels if she says yes. HP and BG, are you going to camp or hotel it? I used to camp, but I happily gave up all the stuff when I split with the ex. I'd rather sleep standing up than on another air mattress.

JC will you really come up here for that? I don't know where you are in Florida, how long of a drive you'd have to do, but for real let us know. Would you be camping in your hammock or staying in a room?

B-We've got to ride what feels right...and you can always cover your biking shorts with a regular pair or even moutain biking shorts which I believe have better placed seams. And for real, I don't look so hot in mine but I dare anyone to say anything to me. BG, I feel ya about the squished thigh mass.

J I sleep but I get up at 3:30am for work. JC on the other hand does not sleep.

I will either hotel it or camp. Makes no difference to me. If I have the kids hotel would be better because of the pool thing.

J, I may vry well be insane or insanely driven when I have a goal in mind.

As for the bik ride, I would drive up. It is only a 14 hour drive most of it is on I-75 which is three miles from my house. I can either camp or hotel/motel makes no difference to me. I call the area where I live, the cow pasture in between Tampa and Orlando.

I do sleep! BG this is simply not true! I went to sleep at a quarter to 11:00 pm. I woke up at 1:45am. So there you have it I do in fact sleep! lol ( I think I may be F-ing Nuts!)

Holy hell people!!!

Welcome B!!!! I love how you instantly got the B thing down. Great!!!

It is hard to jump into a thread after so much has been said and done and you are great in doing so. I know, I have tried to do that on another thread and got ignored. One person would talk to me, but no others, so WTG!!! We welcome anyone here, I mean really, look at all of us weirdos....

There has been soooo much said over the last few pages that it is insanely impossible to comment other than to say....FREAKIN' FUNNY SHIT!!!!

B, did you mention where you were from?

I am so jealous of all of you having a great time on your riding trip, that I told DH, and he said to find him a job in that part of the country and we would move!!!!! He is such a freakin sweetie!!!! We have nothing like that here. There are a few rides, but nothing like the options you guys have over there.

JC, I am finding myself thinking about your hidden treasure. Again, jealous, but still thinking about it. WOW, nice!!!! You little freak!!! Everyone wishes their boyfriends were freaky like you!!!

I made it up a HUGE ASS hill last night, and I mean HUGE!! I will go take pictures of it and post it. Last time I went up it, I went maybe 10 feet into it and hopped off the bike and walked. This time I made it half way up. Stopped, caught my breath, got back on and rode up again, until I decided to try to stand up. Standing up on a sport comfort bike is not the best idea. Then I had to stop again, rested for about a minute and finished it off riding again. My DH had tears in his eyes!!! He was so proud and apparently so was I because he said to me " You should see the big ass smile on your face right now", and that was about 10 minutes AFTER getting up the hill!!!!

AGGGGHHHH!! School starts again on the 28th and I have to wear scrubs this semester. I am dreading it too. They have no give at all in them, and I hate having tight ass clothes on. At least I am going to be 70+ pounds less in them now, than I would of been if I hadn't been banded. That is a plus I guess!!!

BG, how cool is that? Small world I tell ya. One day I would like to be going up that way to meet my biological mother. Shh don't tell anyone down here but My mama was a yankee! I was adopted at birth and the only information the courts will give me is that after I was born she moved BACK to a Great Lakes state with her Aunt.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
