PapaPhil 0 Posted December 9, 2014 The first few days I struggled at drinking Water. 7 days into this sleeve and I don't have much restriction now, seems like I could drink as much as I want. Is this normal?

joatsaint 2,814 Posted December 9, 2014 It really depends on the person. I have trouble with just Water, but mix in some Crystal Light and I can drink over a gallon a day of the stuff. Even during the weeks following surgery, I was able to drink upwards of 64 oz of Crystal Light every day with no problem.
Elode 8,093 Posted December 9, 2014 That's good! I'm well over a month out and Water is just difficult still! I can drink shakes and eat food faster than water. I force Myself to drink at least three 16oz a day and it takes FOREVER! It's just odd! So be happy. If your worried about restriction don't be, just wait till you hit that regular food! Dreamingofhealth 223 Posted December 9, 2014 I'm 13 days out and on full liquids until tomorrow! As of now I feel like I could drink all day and not be full. I just finished a cup of Tomato Soup and I feel like I could have more, but I always stop there and measure the portions my nutriritionist set out for me. I'm hoping tomorrow when I have my first puree meal I can feel the restriction people are talking about! Good luck, Sheena :-)
SciFiGuy 18 Posted December 10, 2014 I'd like to know the answer to this question, too. The guidelines we got (my wife combed through them) said I should be drinking 4-6 oz of Water or other Fluid per hour. I can easily drink a pint (16 oz). Any thoughts? Also, I'm not sure how big my stomach actually is. I'm curious how I can figure it out. I ordered Soup from takeout tonight, and it was pretty thin soup, but I definitely ate more than 4 oz of it in a half-hour... probably between 6-8 oz. So is that because it was such thin soup that it was going through me pretty quickly?
BitterSweet* 835 Posted December 10, 2014 I'm sure everyone will chime in to tell you that the restriction will be felt as your diet advances to purees and soft mechanical. The way to figure out the size of your sleeve is to ask your surgeon what bougie size was used in your surgery. Also, once you begin eating, measure the amount of food before and whatever is leftover. It'll give you a good idea about how many ounces your sleeve can hold.
