Any December 30th Sleevers ?!

Recommended Posts

It's very hard to sit and watch my family eat a nice dinner while i am measuring out my 2ounces of mushy Soups. I am eating the refried Beans and ricotta bake now , they are both delicious but heavy . I even had a bit of a scrambled egg this morning I am lucky if I got down 2 teaspoons before feeling full. All in all the sleeve is working I lost more weight last week then this week but I kind of figured that would happen . This has definitely been a hard journey but I don't regret it one bit it's going to pay off in the end . :D

I had surgery on 12-30-14. I ended up in the hospital for a week with some complications. But being on the liquid diet I didn't lose a lb. I actually gained which was disappointing considering the hell I went thru. I am home and just trying to follow the program.

I'm sure you didn't lose any weight cause you probably had IV Fluids while in the Hosp. That will put the weight on you. Are you the lady that had the blisters and skin discoloration on your tummy a few days after Surgery? I know you are glad to be home. Just keep on keeping on.

Has anyone thought about what to eat during the puree stage? My follow up is scheduled for Wednesday and (hopefully) I'll be graduating to purees and would like to shop for some things before then.

Also, about how many calories are you all getting daily?

I hope everyone is progressing well!

@ JennAlex...my first week was very hard, I was not hurgry nor thirsty. I had to email the nutritionist and she told me just to keep trying. I probably do not get 300 cals in a day. But, I pureed Wendy's Chili per nutritionist. It has a lot of Protein buy, 2 tablespoons and I'm full. I've also had broccoli Soup strained. Sorry, I don't have more to share but, 4oz Protein Shake, Jello, soup and 24oz of Water a day and I'm done. ????

I can't WAIT for the pureed stage! I've been getting about 200 calories in. Not quite at 64oz of Water yet, but I'm getting close. But at this point, I'm pretty tired of cottage cheese, refried Beans and Jello. I went shopping earlier and tried to buy things for this upcoming week. I got pudding, applesauce, tuna, salmon, cod and yogurt. Not sure how many calories I'll be able to do. Have my follow up w/ nutritionist and surgeon this week. We'll see what they say.

I am feeling a little frustrated I have followed everything to a Tee and I haven't lost an ounce since 3 days after i came home from the hospital. I had surgery 13 days ago . Has anyone experienced this ? I am now on my last day of puree. I didn't expect a weight loss slow done so soon.

@@JennAlex Soup and more soup has been the easiest for me to digest. I tried a scrambled egg it just didn't sit well same thing with tuna . I stuck to broths , applesauce , yogurt , ricotta bake , Jello and sugar free pudding . it's definitely trial and error :]

@@hootney1214 I'm 13 days out and I've not lost much either. It's very frustrating. I really want to add some exercise. I don't feel like walking is enough. I just keep telling myself that things will get better. Once we hit the six week mark and can do a variety of exercise (I like zumba and Water aerobics) and can eat other foods I.e. veggies and lean meats, the weight will fall off. We just have to get through the healing phase first.

I was sleeved 12/29, days 1-3 clear liquid, days 4-7 full liquid, day 8-13 purees and day 14 (today!) I started soft foods. I'm feeling great, haven't thrown up. Can drink my two 30g Protein shakes a day and 64oz of Water. This morning I had two eggs muffins that were made with 1/4 cup of egg whites. You know they shrivel up to nothing and I was able to eat almost both of them. So far, my sleeve is such a good girl and she tolerates everything well.

The bad: I'm constipated and I haven't lost a pound since last Monday. I'm 11 pounds down post op but last week, nothing, I even went up two pounds. Now, I wasn't drinking my Water or eating much of anything because I don't have an appetite for anything. I met up with two of my friends, one has had gastric bypass and the other the sleeve surgery. The one that had the sleeve, who is 120 pounds down a year later, said she was the same way the first month. She said she questioned what she had done to her herself! LOL She also said to remember you've been on a liquid diet for three to four weeks and now when you introduce food or even thicker liquid, your body may hold on to it. She also cautioned me that everyone is different and not to compare my weight loss with anyone else's. She said to be patient, drink your water, because that can be the cause of your Constipation, and drink your Protein, as much as you can get in of each as that's what will burn the fat. And then, be patient. The weight loss will come once your body mends from this major surgery and you get in a routine and start to move a little more, she said the weight will start to just fall off.

I wanted to share this with you as so many of us are feeling the same way and it gave me such peace. We must remember that we just had major surgery just 14 short days ago and I'm back at work already!

I've decided to focus on the positives

1. The surgery is behind me now THANK God!!

2. I'm walking with no pain in my legs - Thank God!

3. I'm 28 pounds down (11 post op)

4. I've lost my fat face and neck

5. I can see changes in my body already

6. I have a plan for success

Be blessed and stay focused everyone and best wishes on your journey this week and always!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
