Dec 29th/30th is going to be here before we know it. I started slowly buying liquid Vitamin for the early stages, stool softeners and I brought some books. I got the "Weight loss Surgery Cookbook for Dummies". It helps with guidelines and recipes for various stages. A good read. I am still stuck on shakes? I wish Companies would send samples knowing we are having surgery. I have seen ideas throughout the forum.

I priced the Isopure Protein powders today in te Vitamin Shoppe they were $50.00 !! What if you don't like them ?

Unjury will send you a sample pack for 30 bucks. It comes with two of each vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, unflavored, and chicken broth Protein and a shaker. Its how I found what I liked. They ship quick too and I always get a personal, hand-written "Thank you." Kind of a nice touch.

Amanda, I ordered the sample pack. Thanks for telling us about it. Its exciting and scary to have surgery so close. I bet the time will pass by quickly. Karen

I was thinking we could all friend each other and have our own group of people going through this surgery together. Would that be ok with all of you?

December 29th here! I'm as nervous as I am excited, and have become obsessed with this surgery, constantly researching and can barely sleep. =/

I think starting a private group is a great idea . It's really nice to have such supportive people to go through this with .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
