skypark86 3 Posted December 8, 2014 I am scheduled for an EGD Tuesday and surgery Friday. The closer it gets the more nervous I get. I'm excited but scared. Does anyone have any tips or advice to offer?

AJP1243 46 Posted December 8, 2014 Everything will go great! My EGD was a breeze. I have not had my surgery yet I get that next monday! I am unbelievably nervous but I know I will come out stronger then ever. I start today with my pre op diet. I am being very strict with this so that my liver shrinks to the size it needs to be. I am very excited and hope all goes well for you on Tuesday and Friday. Good luck!

TrimTrekker 18 Posted December 13, 2014 I wouldn't worry unless you have a history of GI problems. I was under anesthesia and completely asleep. Then next thing I know, I was being awaken, thinking 'wow, that was quick.' Turns out, I started coughing during the procedure (which makes sense to me) and wouldn't stop so they couldn't complete it. I don't remember coughing so I'm sure I was completely out. They said it's very rare that that happens, but they ended up doing a barium esophagram in place of it. Not even a smidge of reflux was detected. I had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically years ago and had a breathing tube placed with no problems. I hope I don't have any issues with that this time as well. I'm sure you'll be fine.
