It's totally normal to want to sleep. I was exhausted for days afterwards. Your body just went through major trauma and is focusing all it's resources on healing. And if you're like me, I wasn't in the best physical condition pre-surgery, so it was kind of a double whammy on my system. I basically was moving between my chair and my bed for the 1st 7 days, by day 8 I was able to drive to the store for more Popsicles and things just improved from there on.

Welcome to the Loser's Bench. :D

Yes, you can thank the pain meds for that! Well the whole surgery process in general!

My surgery was yesterday morning. They sent me home today. Is it normal to want to sleep? I'm in some pain and burping hurts.

Both normal. Let those burps out, it's the residual gas getting out of your system. Walk around the house when you are awake and nap as much as your body wants.

Day 13, off pain meds for 8 days, and it's nap-'o'-clock right now :). Must...Finish...Work...

13 days post op. No pain. No more sleep than usual. Still pain with swallowing anything but liquids. Heck, sometimes with liquids.
