ngoycoanaya 18 Posted December 8, 2014 So I am 10 days almost 11 days post op and it is 12/7/14 and my first post op appointment with my surgeon is scheduled for tomorrow December 8, 2014 I still have my staples in and they are red and sore. Has anyone had their staples in that long???
Elode 8,093 Posted December 8, 2014 I did and they took them out at the appointment. They are a pain in the butt! I wish I never had them but oh well...
roundisashape 712 Posted December 8, 2014 My last surgery, the staples were removed at about 2 weeks. For the sleeve, they glued me together!
ngoycoanaya 18 Posted December 8, 2014 They used both the surgical glue and staples, but know my incision sites are red and a little swollen
BitterSweet* 835 Posted December 8, 2014 Red, swollen and irritated equals overdue removal. As long as they get removed tomorrow, everything should be fine.
SuperDave 1,115 Posted December 8, 2014 They just used tape on me. Worked great!

rgrunge87 2 Posted December 8, 2014 After having the sleeve when they "staple" you, ya'll are talking about the outside incisions correct? I was not given staples, I had stitches and what is weird is I had desolvable ones. Is that normal or is it more normal to have staples?
Kindle 8,667 Posted December 8, 2014 After having the sleeve when they "staple" you, ya'll are talking about the outside incisions correct? I was not given staples, I had stitches and what is weird is I had desolvable ones. Is that normal or is it more normal to have staples? For me They used absorbable sutures internally to close the muscle layer and then glue to close the skin. Tape to close the drain hole. I don't think there's a "normal", just surgeon's preference. Staples are faster to put in than stitches.
MS_Science_Sleever 78 Posted December 11, 2014 I had mine out yesterday - 3 weeks post op - very red and sore. Still sore now, but healing. they were a pain in the but, but way better than having a drain! Did that for my lumpectomy - awful!
