rhonda2006 64 Posted December 7, 2014 Hi I had gastric sleeve july 2013. Since then I've lost 193 pounds. I have not had any problems with sleep apnea. Asthma, breathing issues, since surgery. I have had to have a total hysterectomy a few months ago. I'm have some issues with blood pressure that I haven't discussed with my doctor yet, going this week. Some days I feel really bad, even light headed and dizzy some and I'll check my blood pressure and it's always low. Like 90/52, and just the other day it was 78/46, my question is does any one else experience this with the weight loss.
BitterSweet* 835 Posted December 8, 2014 @@rhonda2006, if you are taking anti-hypertensives your doctor may need to discontinue them. If you are not taking any BP meds, the following are possible issues that you can discuss with your doctor: Anemia as a result of your hysterectomy or your nutritional intake; dehydration (which is the typical cause). I think people really underestimate how much Fluid intake their bodies need. The standard 64oz simply may not be enough, and if you aren't getting that amount consistently 100% of the time, it doesn't take much to become dehydrated - particularly if you are exercising. My advice is to make an appointment to be seen. When dizziness occurs, syncope (fainting) is not that far behind. And fainting can occur anywhere, even when you are driving, so please follow-up with your doctor. Congratulations on your massive weight loss! That is phenomenal! rhonda2006 64 Posted December 9, 2014 Thank you, I don't take any blood pressure medicines but do take a cholesterol medicine. Even though I have had the weight loss my cholesterol is still high. And hormones from having the hysterectomy. Other than that just the normal Vitamins.< /p>
honeydew008 22 Posted December 9, 2014 I had high blood pressure before surgery. Frequently, it is low now. I can never feel when it is high, but I always know when it is low. I get lightheaded, dizzy, and start sweating. It comes and goes since surgery.
Wendyfm 494 Posted December 9, 2014 I went off my blood pressure meds about three weeks after surgery because my pressure was low. Now it's pretty much normal, occasionally it's like 132/77, usually it's like 117/68-70 ish. Pretty happy with it, although I check it about once, twice a week.
