Burning sensation in stomach....6 days post op

Recommended Posts

My sleeve was done on December 1st. As with most others, I am having a hard time eating my daily requirements. Awhile after I eat, I get a burning sensation in my stomach. I am not sure if my stomach is growling, if it's gas, or something else. I do take a pill every morning before eating for acid reflux.

Please help?

My acid reflux pill is a regime the doctor prescribes for everyone, not because I have acid reflux.

It's possible you need a stronger acid reducer Rx.

I was on Ranitidine pre-op and continued on that for 10 days. I did notice my acid reflux was a little stronger toward the end of that time.

Then my doc prescribed Protonix. END of any tummy acid problems.

I have six pillows on my bed and I have to sleep with all of them plus a smaller one under my belly. I can say that my belly does not fell heavy anymore when I lie to one side so the smaller pillow can be done away with. I am calling my doctor's office tomorrow because I have plenty of concerns. I feel great, just not getting in enough Protein.< /p>

I am 3 days post op and I have MAJOR acid reflux, it's so bad it takes my breath away and I cringe and almost to were it makes me cry. I called my doc office and they said to take mylanta or Zantac and I tried the mylanta and that didn't help at all!! I can barely get my liquids down because of this. HELP!!

I had a burning sensation too for a couple of weeks after surgery. My surgeon said that it was a normal part of the healing process and it soon passed. You should check with your doctor though xx

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
