Will water keep me fat?

Recommended Posts

I don't understand the Portion Control when it comes to liquids. Will sipping too much liquid stretch out my pouch?

Sipping Water is actually one of the best things you can do for yourself and your pouch. Just don't gulp, even if and when you can. Also stick to the rule of 30 minutes before and after a meal. That will help to ensure you absorb your calories, stay full longer and keep your pouch from stretching.

You are going to do great Bella! Sip, sip, sip!

Are you at home now?

Hi dj's, no I'm not home yet. Ive had a really hard time with gas pain, vomiting, spitting foam, and now choking in my sleep. I'm actually feeling a lot of head hunger and cravings for food Erich is weird. I am so ready to go home. My doctors are all looking at me like I'm a druggie because I don't want them to take me off of diladid but seriously, as long as I am in the hospital I'm drinking the champagne pain meds while I can! I'm ready to leave but still unsure, my hospital has given me next to no instructions about food. I'm trying out 4oz of fluids right now and it's going okay.

Thanks for getting in touch

B

I've been moving and walking a ton in fact they asked me to slow it down. I just had soooo much gas pain it was terrible, vomiting blood, choking all kinds of crap. I just hope I can stick with it and really make this change. I'm a little scared at how thinking of food makes me want to eat even though I know I can! Probably something to do with only havering a few tablespoons of Water and broth for 5'days. :) I just want to get home and get in bed, have something other than broth and lemonade.

Hopefully your gas pain will subside soon. The bad thing about pain medicine it can sometimes make you feel crappier. I hope you can get out of there soon and get home. You will have to find something to keep your mind off of food, it sounds like you have some head hunger going on too. Have they not let you try sf Popsicles or sf Jello. That might be a nice change and is still part of the liquid diet.< /p>

Fluids go through the stomach, they don't stay there.

Water helps to flush everything out of your system. also every organ in your body needs Fluid to function properly. Try sipping small amounts each hour, like 4 ounces. Alternate with Protein Shakes and you will get in both your Protein and water for the day.

I wasn't really thinking clearly when I asked this question! Hahaha. I'm home now and know that Water has no calories, I was really out of it. I had a pretty tough time in the hospital but it could have been worse!! I'm doing well now.

So glad you are home and doing better.

I may need to block my access to all social media while I am on pain meds!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
