I'm 5 days post Op and wondering can liquids get stuck. I've felt stuck twice in 3 days. Didn't puke or anything. I'm on all liquids so I was confused how could liquids get stuck.

You probably just have a lot of swelling. Hope you feel better. Maybe drink small sips. My surgeon said drink like you are sipping hot tea.

Think of a Funnel....you cannot pour Water into the wide opening too fast, have to let it pass through the narrow passage out the bottom....put food in there and the Water is not going anywhere (but back up)

Post-op swelling can make that passage narrow, so you have to take it easy....but it will go away...

Later, after a few fills, it may return depending on how much restriction you're going to want.

I cannot drink liquids very fast, and I definitely cannot drink while eating, and sometimes up to 1/2hr afterwards.

Try using a tiny medicine cup to sip from. More then likely you have internal swelling as indicated by @briefs199. Eating some ice pops will also help you get your fluids in and even hopefully help to calm some of the internal swelling going on.

Take it slow...you just had major surgery give yourself some time heal :)

Are you possibly gassy? Do you burp as you down liquid? Try gasX strips after24 hours you should feel

better, plus do try to drink 2-3 oz of Fluid wait 15 min and drink more

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
