6 weeks out and feel like I can eat like a normal person! Ugh!

Recommended Posts

6 weeks out. I have no trouble eating. I'm only supposed to be eating 1/4 C of food at a meal, I haven't tried it but I bet I could easily eat 1 C! Does that mean something is wrong with my pouch? I also have absolutely no problems drinking fast. I want to barely be able to get 1/4 C of food down!

On top of that in 6 weeks since my surgery I've only lost 14 pounds!

Wow ! I'm almost 6 weeks, I can barely get a 1/4 cup of food down. If I try even a couple bites over I am in so much trouble (pain and vomiting). I have noticed I can drink faster, if I have not had a drink in a while, but when my pouch is full, I have to wait at least 5 minutes for the next sip. I wonder if it's because you are not getting the full feeling that you were used to before. I don't get it either, well, it's a very gentle one. But I do know it's kind of - well, I think am not full, I should try another bite and hello, I have fallen over the cliff. For me this means the last 4 or 5 bites have to have at least 3 minutes between them. That's how long it takes my brain to know I am full. You really have to listen to your body.

I totally understand! This has bed. My experience too. I have actually wondered if I had the surgery! I do have to listen to my body better. I always are way past feeling full before surgery, so maybe I just don't know how to recognize the feeling? I'm rarely hungry now, so that has been really helpful. This doesn't stop the head hunger, but it helps me stop from over eating. Anyone else out there experience this?

I think I'm in this boat as well. I know I can eat more than a 1/2 cup. I'm getting really frustrated because I don't WANT to over eat. I just do. I know I'm very good about what types of foods I'm attempting to eat. Like Saturday I know I had too many rich foods... too many oils exactly. I felt it on Sunday.

But right now for lunch, I had more than my fill of zucchini Pasta... basically raw zucchini and turkey meat sauce. I'm uncomfortable now..gassy...but not horribly so...

I don't know when I'm full. I'm scared at 5 weeks out I've already ruined my pouch. I really am!

I thought I was in this group. I was sure I could eat more than ¼ cup. One scrambled egg was not enough. I was sure I could eat two. I could eat a tiny bit more than one. (large egg) It is the same thing with anything else. Tomorrow I will be six weeks out. I don't think you are doing yourself any favors by seeing how much you can eat. A few times I have eaten too much, and it feels horrible.

I'm in the same boat. I know I am farther out from surgery than most of you. I know I can eat more than a 1/4 cup of food I've done it. I can also drink like a normal person. I to wondered if I even had the surgery. I am also one of the few that does not get dumping syndrome. I just had to go back to the basics of measuring everything and now I have my restriction back.

I appreciate these responses so much! Denial is a powerful issue for me, do weighing and measuring is necessary for me.

Hello. I was told to always weigh and measure everything I put in my mouth. After surgery I didn't have a full feeling like I did prior. I was also told just because I could doesn't mean I should. Measure out your food, eat dense Protein first, and then see if you can get some veggies in. I too at first felt I could have eaten more and then one day my pouch said "hello!" All of the sudden I felt the restriction that I thought I should have had. Your body of healing so give it a minute but my suggestion would be to weigh and measure. I still do it at almost 10 months out and plan to continue. It helps me to stay on track with weight loss and to know how much protein, carbs, and fats are in my diet.

I am a year and 4 month post op from a DS and I never really got the full feeling until.i was in the bathroom throwing up . But at 6 weeks out i was on liquids and released to soft food then. But when I started eating foods certain things I could only have 1 of 2 bits of then other things I could eat 6oz of depending on what it was. about a month ago my stomach finally started to tell me HEY I'M FULL NO MORE PLEASE. so it can take time. Like I said never got the full feeling when eating till it was way too late and I throw it up. Now I get it around the 1/4 cup to 3/4cup time done again depending on what I'm eating. Also my Dr said after 1 yr post op I could eat up to 1 cup of food at a time if I do that I'm throwing up. So just try to listen to your body. Some people don't know it but get full and get pain between their shoulders or they get headaches. Just measure your foods and try not to eat and drink at same time as this pushes the food out and makes you eat more..

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
