Quanna 2 Posted December 7, 2014 (edited) Was sleeved on 12/1 and discharged 12/3. Not having any complications but I have a problem with all the Protien shakes I have tried. Either too sweet or too milky tasting. Tried Unjury (all flavors), Premier Protien (vanilla & chocolate) and one from Vitamin Shoppe. I have one more week of liquids n that will include starting back work. I know this can't be okay. Times I cry sometimes I laugh at what I have done to myself. Just can't end up back in hospital. Somebody help everything just taste terrible! Edited December 7, 2014 by Quanna
Elode 8,093 Posted December 7, 2014 Premier Protein is the only one I like. I drank it for two weeks pre-surgery and I'm 5 weeks out still loving them...but only chocolate!
hillgirly 228 Posted December 7, 2014 How about an unflavored that you can put in Jello, crystal light or juice? Of course, unjury has one, but there are others as well. I don't know about your plan, but I was on Clear Liquids for a week, then full liquids for two...full liquids included yogurt - I would mix Protein powder in plain Greek yogurt. That was a nice change from the shakes
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 7, 2014 Are you on full liquids? I would drink my shakes during the day and at night I had pureed bean Soup. That savory break in the evening was the only thing that got me through and I only had to do full liquids for 2 weeks.
Mrs.RRn 2,111 Posted December 7, 2014 The Premire shakes saved me... I wouldn't say they were amazing, but they were easy to get down.
bams1220 6 Posted December 7, 2014 I'm day 3 pre-op and I'm using Premier Protein. I also blend mines with extracts to give it different tastes. They r really good with the extracts.

BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 7, 2014 (edited) I was allowed the bean Soup since it was more liquid-y then mushy. I made my own so I had to start with pureeing the Beans, then I strained out the skins, mixed it with a bit of vegetable broth and drank it. I don't eat meat but maybe you could do something like a cream of chicken soup or at the very least chicken or beef broth. It's not going to be a big Protein push, but I got in most of my Protein early on with the shakes so it balanced out. I was also allowed yogurt when I was in the full liquid stage. Double check with your medical team and see if that's allowed. Just being able to break up the monotony of sweet made a big difference. I know I can't do what I did last week again this week and not be back at hospital. Somethings gotta change. Thanks
