Jessiegirl30 149 Posted December 6, 2014 I'm sorry I had the same problem it's because your not eating, the only advice I was given was to drink as much Water as possibility , also the enemas won't work because there is nothing in there sorry you might need to talk to your surge nor nurse about it if it is really bad :-(

Aranks 94 Posted December 6, 2014 I had surgery a week ago on the 28th. Are you in pain or at least passing gas? It took me three days to pass gas (was burping like crazy though) and five days post op to have a BM if you'd call it that. Yesterday was my first 'real' BM. Only after integrating yogurt and such did anything start to happen for me. If you're concerned or very uncomfortable contact your surgeon and see what they'd recommend. Tamster01 36 Posted December 9, 2014 @@robinsales have you had a bowl moment? I also had my surgery 12/2 and still haven't went yet. My nurse suggested I get some Benefiber. So frustrated right now.
woo woo 872 Posted December 9, 2014 You are going to be "off" in that department for a few weeks or more. I was told to use Miralax or milk of magnesia.

BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 9, 2014 I was started on colace stool softener in the hospital & for 30 days post-op. I had my first BM 2 days after discharge and will they are sometimes small, I go daily. I was also really regular pre-op. Check with your doctor first, but you could try: stool softeners like colace,Fiber additives like benefiber or miralax, foods like prune juice or teas like Smooth Move.< /p> It really becomes a matter of trial and error to see what your body responds to. Also drinking as much Water as possible may help.
chicogirl3 17 Posted December 9, 2014 My doctor suggested Water, water, water, and to sip through the day on milk of magnesia in till you have a BM. It worked for me.
