That's not really a lot of calories in the scheme of a day is it :-) also think , it's better than chips or Cookies :-D

I never was a gum chewer but I will grab a piece if I feel a hunger pain between meals. Usually it does the trick and I chew for about 10 minutes and I'm good.

I agree even if it's cookie flavored gum, it's not a cookie. Haha

chew about a pack of gum a day

@@iamblessed1225

NUT told told me NO gum, ever :o

i looked at her and almost laughed

"why in the world can't you chew gum?"

something about the swallowing and possible outcome/problem/issue with gum going down and getting "stuck"??

nothing to do with calories

as with all questions here, talk/check with your doc/NUT

at the end of the day

they are the ONLY ones you should listen to :)

forever and ever

good luck bud :)

Oh my gosh, I needed something for my breath today and my co-worker gave me a piece of gum. I only planned on chewing it for 5 minutes or so, but I became busy and after about an hour I felt this burning in my throat right before lunch. I started walking and the burning in my throat and upper chest would not go away and I threw-up white foamy stuff a few times.

I ended up leaving work and going to my doctors office, partly because my stitches were sticking out and needed snipping and to talk about my burning. It finally subsided a little over two hours later. The NP told me that it was probably due to the acid in my stomach coming up and settling in my throat and chest after chewing the gum from lots of air going to my stomach.

No more gum for me!

I was told it's not good for you as it can cause acid to build up. There's also certain schools of thought that believe the fake sugars in gum may actually cause greater weight gain than sugar by stimulating your appetite. Either way I don't chew gum.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
