How great it would be to finally not feel hungry and to not have a life completely consumed with food!

Had I known I wouldn't have had to give up all the wonderful foods I love and enjoy I would have done the sleeve long before I did it. Had I known it wasn't a death sentence for my relationship with food, and that we could still be friends, I would have done it sooner, had I known how easy it was I would have done it sooner. If only I knew last December what I know now, I would have done it then. But fear of the unknown kept me from doing it and putting my life on hold for yet another year. I'm so glad I've done what I did. Had I only known then, what I know now!

I wish I'd known post-op was going to be as easy as it has been.

I used pain meds twice after leaving the hospital.

I've never thrown up. Not once.

At mealtimes, I eat, and then I'm full / done / not hungry any more.

At this point, I've been sleeved for almost 16 weeks. Since then I've been losing weight steadily -- have lost weight every single week. No stalls. And it's not really slowing down overall. Of course, some weeks I lose more than others. But those weeks sort of alternate.

I've already lost 67% of my excess body weight. That just blows my mind!

So far, this is much easier than I'd feared. Loving it.

I agree, pre-surgery, my thoughts were continually on, "What am I going to eat next?" - even while I was eating!! Yikes!!

I felt totally prepared after being on the forum for a year prior to surgery. Like vsgann2014, I was surprised at how easy my recovery has been.

I was surprised by how little I would actually be able to eat. I know the quantities would be small after surgery and have seen in mentioned many times. However, actually having it happen to me after eating half of 1 scrambled egg was a shock to the system. Compared to how much I was able and did eat before surgery to what I eat now is shocking!

It's nuts how little food it takes to make me feel full! I used to be able to eat like a bear...now I take as long to eat my child sized anount as it takes my boyfriend to eat two hearty helpings.

That they might not be operating on our intestines as sleevers, but it's a good idea to have meds for Constipation and diarrhea available when you get home.

That recovery could fall anywhere on the scale - you might be prepared for easy and wind up in a lot of pain, or prepared for pain and walk out of the OR dancing. Good to get your ducks in a row so you can handle things either way!

My husband and I are going to be one disparate pair, in terms of eating. We went to Taco Bell five minutes ago; I ordered one bean burrito and he ordered two large entrees--and had polished off one of them before I got halfway through my burrito. This will be even more pronounced afterwards. I just wish he was open to having the procedure (His response -- "Hell no.")

Oh yeah - and that my nose would run 24/7, not just when I'm full! That might stop when the swelling goes down, but it is weird!

My guy is relatively fit...he works hard and is naturally compact like his ancestors. Chinese ancestry...but I worry it may catch up to him some day! And I worry about diabetes because he sure goes to town on carbs...

Wish I had known how hard the first month post-op would be, but I would do it 10 more times if I had to! Love VSG and all the amazing things it gives!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
