Since my pre band days I've been fond of soy crisps. For me they are an alternative to rice cakes. I've never been fond of rice cakes for a couple of reasons-- they taste bad and the nutritional facts stink. The soy crisps I get are made from genisoy. They don't taste great, but I think they are better than rice cakes anyway, not bad. Good crunchy wafer. What I really like them for is eating hummus. Or pesto. Or olive stuff. But Hummus plus soy crisps is always a favorite diet food of mine. And lately they have also been good for my tummy that can be unhappy at times.

I get mine at the grocery store or at a health food store. They are in one of the health food sections of my grocery store. They recently started to carry more brands of them, actually, so now I get to try different things.

I get mine at Winco. There are right by the rice cakes at my store. I have not looked at other stores, but will next time I go into Walmart or Smiths, or Albertsons. It is also interesting to look at the nutritional values of rice cakes compared to these. Rice cakes have NONE!!! No wonder whenever I use to diet and try to eat rice cakes to satisfy my cravings I always ended up eating everything else along with the rice cakes. Deanna

I love the BBQ flavored ones. The problem is wanting to eat the whole bag.

They are right next to the rice cakes at Walmart.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
