@@fluffy4now, I had surgery on Sept 14, 2014. I had prime rib ten days after, and have it once a week (I work in the oil patch and all meals are made for us). I had turkey, gravy and all the fixins last Sunday, and tomorrow is steak and shrimp night. This sleeve is not a death sentence, it's a means of controling your intake. I can not stand Protein shakes, and wish so much I could find one that I could drink without it coming back on me, but I can't, so I eat what is put in front of me in camp. I eat VERY small amounts, and guess what, I'm happy with that. Prime rib night use to happen, and I'd almost eat the arm of anyone who got in my way, now I just sit back and enjoy it. I even have yorkshire pudding and gravy if I want it (might only be a bite or two, but that's all that I need). I have lost 35 pounds todate, and have another 40 to go. I love that I'm happy with a few bites of everything instead of being able to out eat every man in the dining room. I'm happy that my stomach doesn't stick out further than my boobs. So this isn't the end of enjoying food, it's the end of un-natural eating. As for the other things you enjoy, trust me you won't be struck with a bolt of lightening if you eat them, use caution, but enjoy life!

I have not said goodbye to anything. Once you are at goal, I don't see any reason why you can't have any of your favorites in moderation. I've had all three on your list as well as some of my favs.....tiramisu, cheesecake, gyros, sweet potato fries, crown and Water, blueberry muffins.... But nothing "bad" more than a 3-4 times/month.

The only food I REALLY miss is a toasted bagel with cream cheese. It used to be my weekend treat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
