Am having a horrible time with hemorrhoids! I haven't been constipated, if anything I've had very soft stools. Please tell me this is not a reoccurring event. Any ideas how to sooth my firing back side lol. I have the OTC creams

Me too. I am taking a Peri-Colace pill for Constipation every evening. I have had one event that required Magnesium Citrate and it took two bottles of it. It was like 11 days without a BM. It was worse then the surgery. If things don't settle I may require a new surgery and I did not have a problem before.

hi ladies I have had hemorrhoids since I started this prep op diet. I find out on the 9th when I have my surgery. I understand how painful they are. I have used all the over counter stuff with no relief except the wipes and that is short term. I have learned the looser the stool the better. I take Miralax every morning this last week and it;s been so much better. I was told by the pharmacist that you can use it everyday. I hope it keeps working. If I find my stool is to loose than I will skip one day of miralax. So that is my opinion I hope that helps a little.

Thank you so much, something's got to help. This is the worst kind of pain.

I was constipated my 2nd week post operation. I developed internal hemorrhoids. I used Miralax 2x a day and it loosened my stools and the hemorrhoids healed up.

Hemorrhoids but no constipation...interesting but it happens. I would say make sure you are not pushing to hard or in a hurry to go potty. Take a little more time. You can also purchase a sitz bath kit and soak in the warm Water a few times per day. You can add Epsom salt and you can alternate throughout the day with ice cold compresses using some type of barrier of course...lol. These are both soothing and the cold will reduce swelling. But you have to be consistent to see results. If that doesn't work you may want to see your doc and possibly look into other treatments. Try to make sure you also have enough cushion when you sit.

I know this sounds weird but witch hazel wipes really help. After you wipe clean, use a witch hazel wipe and things will start feeling better and get better over continued use. If you cant find wipe you can use liquid witch hazel on toilet paper for the same effect. Both can be typically found in the pharmacy section at Wal-Mart near rubbing alcohol or at a similar store. Hope it helps :-)

Hundreds of years ago, Native Americans began using the leaves and bark of the witch hazel plant as a folk remedy.

As it turns out, witch hazel contains tannins, oils, and other substances that appear to:

Lessen inflammation

Draw tissue together

Slow bleeding

Why do people take witch hazel?

Today, you can find witch hazel in your local drugstore. People often use it as an astringent, which draws tissue together and constricts blood vessels.

People apply witch hazel to the skin for a variety of problems, such as:

Itching

Inflammation

Injury

Insect bites

Bruises and minor burns

Varicose veins

Hemorrhoids

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
