New surgeon after old one is dragging the ball, opinions?

Recommended Posts

I was stating with my surgon because I loved him, and his offices staff, what I agreed to a normal tweaking of the port became a full blown operation of taking the entire band out, sending me home to heal and come back and do another surgery

but They submitted for a sleeve, wait for it, wait, my BMI was 26 so CIGNA basically laughed. Since then (sept 19) I have climed up in weight and am now a 35 BMI...I have all my document ion but am afraid they are going to look and Say, oh kbow not. her again ..any help would be great. Thanks Dee

Do you have co-morbid conditions? I was approved by cigna with exactly 35 bmi w/ apnea and hbp. I didn't have a band before but I don't see how that would matter?

We have a cigna expert on this board, maybe she will chime in with info.

Good luck!!

ETA: If you love your surgeon and his team, I would stick with him unless there's a real reason not to. I couldn't tell from your post whether there is an issue with that.

Oh my, the type-o's from my previous post are pitiful....sorry, new iPad! I do like my surgeon and if I didn't I would have been gone a long time ago. I believe he is great at what he does but like every bariatric office I have been too, it looks like they are short staffed. I just am confused as to this process...if I had had the revision done at the time of band removal, I would not have to jump through all the hoops and start at the very beginning. Then again, I hear about the scar tissue and I get it. I don't believe it falls under a revision or replacement if it's already been taken out!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
