And even though I don't, it might be a good idea to track for awhile so you have a good idea of where you stand

I too can not drink enough. I have MS which makes for a spastic bladder. I've trained myself to drink very little to stop the spasms especially at night. I've been forcing myself to drink more. I've been drinking a lot of coffee and sf chai tea. I looked into coffee being dehydrating and from what I read if you really overdue it, it can be. So with that, I feel you!

@@Lovebuggie I agree with kindle & others. You may want to try myfitnesspal for awhile to see where you stand. I use it everyday, but more as a guide. I had surgery a couple weeks before you & I appear to be breaking a 6 wk stall. I recomitted to drinking a lot more Water, etc. At this point, you should be able to handle most foods...just remember to be cautious when you add something you haven't had yet, just in case :)

Maybe you can find a support group at a medical facility near you? If not..you have us!! We're not your doctor obviously, but most here are more than willing to assist. :D

I am so sorry your surgeon has offered so little support. Pre and post surgical support are critical. Where did you have your surgery? Was it a Center of Excellence?

Tysm I have gotten more advice on here then at my doc office. Sadly no groups near me. I am currently trying myfitness pal. I still can't seem to handle a lot of foods but I've had trouble with that from day 1. I just feel very frustrated.

Definitely start tracking on my fitness pal if you can it will give you an idea of where your calorie intake, Protein and carb intake is at. Sure does sound like you are not eating enough and definitely not drinking enough Water. These two things will slow your weightloss down drastically.

Another really great resource is the Big book of the Gastric Sleeve. It will have a lot information from the very beginning that you've already past but it also has a lot of great infomation for about the how's and whys we follow the certain intakes. I definitely found it to be a great resource early on.

Hope these all help

Lovebuggie, how much do you eat at a meal? Are you feeling the restriction? I am only 9 months out but am really restricted on portions. (If I eat too much, I get sick as a dog.) fluids are a problem for me too but you are not getting nearly enough. Dehydration is going to throw your body way out of whack. What are you able to eat? I drink one Protein Shake a day (30g protein), usually something like a small can of tuna or chicken, and I snack on almonds and cheese. I also mix yogurt and milk in my travel cup. Between them all I get Protein and Fluid. It is hard. I plateaued at 2 months and started exercising. Weight is coming off now. I think your best bet is to join a local support group but I see you mention there are none. We will be your support group. You need guidance and help! Try keeping a food log for a week. Get lots of rest. Go for a walk when you can. Please keep us posted. We all understand.

I feel restriction yes. I don't eat or drink nearly enough I do know that. As for a local support group there are none in my area. It doesn't help that my surgeons office gives me no help or guidance. I am getting maybe 400 calories a day. Which I now know I need to eat more and drink more.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
