Can Someone Recommend A Good Doc Near Salem Nh

I already replied to your other thread. But I now notice you are in Salem. Stoneham/Winchester are right off Rt 93. (next to Woburn) If this is not convenient you may want to try the Lowell Area. There are 2 hospitals (Lowell General and Saints Memorial) that both have Bariatric surgery departments.

A new Doc??? PC or Weight Loss. Dr Leo LAne in Methuen for PC or the Portsmouth group for bariatric, Atlantic Surgical. All are great. I am 3 months out and down 40 lbs. :lol:I haven't been here since my surgery as it was so quiet. I will be back. Gotta get ready for work.:frown:

Hi,

Where in NH do you live. There are many great docs but it depends on where you live. I have the lapband and can tell you all you want to know.

Hi,

You are kinda far up, but the best docs I think are in Portsmouth. They have 3 docs in their practice. I went to several different meetings prior to making a decsion with other programs in NH before I chose to go to them. It is called Atlantic Surgical. Dr Pacuilli is great. She is very sensitive but straight forward. You would have to attend several different meetings. You would have to have a meeting with a physcologist who would make the decsion if you are ready for banding. You also need to meet with the bariatric co ordinator, and a nutrionist. You would have to lose 10% of the weight you need to lose and keep it off before the surgery. It is a BIG commitment.

Thank you very much! I know its a big commitment but i am ready and willing to do what it takes for this! being young and overweight is very hard these days its not as accepted even though its becoming bigger in society. The only problem with these doctors is I am only 17 and not many of them do the surgery on minors(I dont see why 17 is too much harm) but my birthday is in August. But I sure will tell my mom about this doctor and have her give her a call! :)

I'm from Wakefield, NH; I meet tomorrow with Dr. Gens (Atlantic Medical in Portsmouth). I have done my psych classes, nutritionist, physical therapy and also the support group meeting. Wondering after meeting with Dr. how far off my surgery might be??? I have also lost the 11 lbs that was needed. Getting anxious now to begin a new life!

Hi Goffstown,

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
