Puréed Stage - How Many Calories?

Recommended Posts

I cannot find a clear answer on how many calories we should be eating during this stage. I'm 10 days post-op and still not very hungry. I'm getting between 600-800 calories a day but I'm also walking 2-4 miles a day burning from 200-300 calories. I don't want my body to go into starvation mode and have my weight loss stop. Anyone have any ideas on what should be happening at this point? I cannot get a response from my doctors office :(

I say, keep doing what you are doing. Don't worry so much about all of that right now. At this stage, your body is still healing. Don't stress about the caloric intake just yet.

Great job, by the way. :D

I completely understand. But it'll all come when it's supposed to. No need to worry about the calories until the chopped stage or after your first fill. :)

i don't believe in the starvation mode thing like I used to, although, of course, my body was well prepared for famine. Plenty of fat stores! Well, with the band I've finally tapped into storage and gotten the weight off -- I figure that's the whole idea. And I don't count calories now -- I just listen to my body.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
