I don't think I can answer the question about whether or not 34lbs. is a good enough loss. Everyone is different and, therefore, not comparable. Enjoy your loss and how much better you feel.

34 lb gone beats the heck out of 34lbs gained! So I say success!

Yes true.. But do you know anything about the acid reflux? I don't know if it's something since my stomach is smaller now..

Sorry, I can't. I had that happen a few times when I ate and laid down soon afterwards. If it's more often, I would definitely call your surgeon. Maybe he/she can prescribe medication for it.

My surgeon gave me a prescription for acid from day one so I don't know about that. I know I when I forgot one day last week I could feel the acid start so I took it and haven't missed since. You should ask your surgeon.

Were you prescribed a PPI? My surgeon had me on 40mg omeprazole mandatory for 2 months because excess acid and reflux is such a common issue postop.

Hey I'm part of the 40 mg omeprazole club as well! Have you checked with your surgeon?

Hope you feel better soon.

As for the amount of weight lost in the amount of time...well I don't think there are any rules or promises. The main thing is that you stay focused on staying on track and stay positive. One pound lost is better than a pound gained any day in my book. I haven't looked at the scale in a bit. Tomorrow is my one month surgery day as long as the scale shows a number less than the one from the 19th I'll be happy! And realize the pouch is doing it's thing!

I am feeling better.. Thank you.. Haven't had a chance to talk to the doc.. Hope you lost something.. And yeah that's true as long as no weight gain.. I lose about 2lbs a week..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
