My favorite was wonton soup! I'm so over it now...but steamed shrimp or chicken and broccoli is good or they have mixed vegetables stir fried...I've always asked for steamed...they gave me so much veggies I had enough to last me a whole week.

Most places will steam vegetables for you and you can ask for no MSG, salt etc. Chinese food is delish, but be careful as it is usually loaded with fat and salt. Well, which is why it taste so darn good.

It gets easier. I find that anything in a sauce goes down easily. And I don't really worry about calories from the sauces. At 700-900 calories a day, we have room to spare so I don't think they'll hurt me too much.

if you look the various Chinese food dishes up for their caloric values you may find that even a small portion of something benign like chicken and Broccoli will be at or above that 700-900 mark for just the one meal.

Man, I've been dying for chinese.... Sesame chicken... But I can eat so little at a time, I know I would end up eating a little then wasting it. Maybe later down the road...

They usually have a heathy option with no sugar, no msg, etc. I LOVE Chinese food. I don't eat anything breaded or fried. Love crab rangoons, but that is what got me to a size 24. Now, I only do shrimp with snowpeas and skip the rice. 7months out for me,,,, I can usually eat about 5 shrimp.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
