I am Looking for a Lap-band Surgeon in Dallas,Texas

Recommended Posts

Hi,

As you can see I am new here. I am considering lap-band or gastric bypass surgery and am looking for a doctor in Dallas. I was doing some research and wanted to get an unbiased opinion. What do you guys and gals think of this lap-band surgeon in Dallas? I saw his TV commercial and he seems nice. Anyone had any experience with Dr. Wade Barker?

I went to one of Dr. Barker's seminar's at Dr. Maese's clinic and came away impressed. However, when I finished my pre-ops with Dr. M., he assigned me to Dr. Benevides. I have a history of heart problems and someone in his office said that was why I got sent to Dr. B....dont' know exactly what that meant, but it worked out very well. Had no problems or complications or pains of any kind.

I used AIGB in Dallas and my surgeon was Dr. Felts. AIGB can be found at LAP-BAND Weight Loss Surgery | True Results. I was very impressed with the customer service. I never felt like a number. I was called every two -three days before surgery and after surgery was contacted twice by the surgeon Dr. felts to check up on me. There are several Doctors in the practice and I am sure you will find one you like. They offer seminars weekly. I went to three different seminars with them and chose my surgeon based on the impression I got from their individual presentations at the seminars. I felt Dr. Felts personality was much like my own.

Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
