Surgery tomorrow, very scared.

Recommended Posts

I too was very nervous, and I cried some myself! It is very normal. But I didn't write any letters and I refused to believe the worst about my body, health or doctor and staff. Everyone was so amazing and prayer and meditation was everything for me the night before surgery. I also prayed for my medical team as I was being rolled in. Funny enough, I was so relaxed and calm by the time they put me on the table that I fell asleep BEFORE they administered my anesthesia! Lol so weird to fall asleep on your own. Anyway, I'm here talking today and everything was a success. My Dr. Is awesome and my family great. GOD IS GOOD. you will be fine, and congratulations!

And my surgeon said that yes. The odds of something going wrong even slightly are about 1%. Very low.

I had a hernia surgery the year before, so I knew more or less what to expect. I do remember waiting in pre-op and wondering if this would be "it" and I wouldn't wake up.

But then they brought that magical injection that made all the fears go bye-bye. Then I was watching TV and laughing until they rolled me in for surgery. The last thing I would've seen in life was Keeping up with the Khardasians.

You'll do fine! Just be sure to follow the post-surgery plan!

I'll say that before I went in for surgery, we had a conversation about... what if I died. I said this. I'm well insured, you'll be more wealthy and I know you'll never have to worry about money again. If I die, please re-marry and don't mourn and please don't be alone too long. Try to find someone new within 6 months because I wouldn't want you to be alone because of me. It was a serious conversation. That was all the thought we put into it. Things happen but I wasn't ready to leave this place yet.

I'm a single parent with an Autistic child.I made a will out stipulating who would have custody of my kiddo. I found my life insurance policy and wrote out a living will. Then I felt better and less panicky.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
