Recommended Posts

I have gained 10lbs smh I swore this wud never happen to me smh it came so fast smh I have lost all control of my diet and it's hard to stop it. I sometimes feel like I have stretched my sleeve but I'm praying not. I think I'm trying to feel normal again and thinking I can't gain this weight back but I clearly see I can . I feel like this 10lbs is 50lbs I'll be 30 in 22 days and I want to be back at 130lbs and feeling sexy again. I know 142 is not big to some but to me it's huge compared to how I felt comfortable. ..

You and I are very close in weight and I know how you feel about the difference between the 130's and 140's. I just had plastic surgery this week and from the Fluid, I went from 135 to 142 and had myself a little mini meltdown when I got on the scale the day after surgery. Fortunately, a few days later all of the Fluid is gone and I'm back to where I was, but I would love to be down to 130 and I completely understand that even though 142 is small, you feel so much hotter at 130.

So..you can get off the weight gaining track! Today is Monday, December 1 which is like the perfect day to start a diet, at least until Christmas. I would really like to know out 5 pounds before Christmas pictures so I eliminated all sweets for the next 3 weeks. Think about all the cute clothes you can wear when you're 10 pounds thinner, and go get on that treadmill. :)

I agree with AvaFern!

After this time you know what you need to do. Yes, it is hard. I have a 10 pound regain too.

I'm trying 5:2 to drop it and I'm limiting drinks and treats to 2 days per week. So, I'll have two days of semi fasting with very low calorie lunch and dinner, three days of three meals and two healthy Snacks, and two days where I can splurge with cocktails, desert, etc.

I'm hoping that will do the trick. If not, I'll have to cut back more.

One final thought: You can't hate yourself thin. So next time you start beating yourself up over the weight gain, ask yourself what you would tell your best friend and then say that to yourself instead.

We can all relate. I am under goal but feel big compared to where I was. Now is the time to fix it but don't be all negative like "I am huge". We have spent a lot of years beating ourselves up over weight and food. I say it us time to stop that emotional punishment and just "git er done"

I'm not a vet like most of you guys. I still have almost 30 pounds to go until my goal.

But to the OP, isn't gaining / losing a few pounds what "real life" is about during maintenance phase?

Couldn't you treat this as just one more lesson you need to study and learn and do well at as part of your journey?

Maybe it's just a wonderful opportunity for you ... ?

Yep, it's our worst nightmare. The first couple of pounds that creep on, and you know why, but feel a little helpless to stop it. You know you are out of control, either a little or a lot, and you know if you don't get your arms around it now, you are going to be in trouble.

I remember how I got so heavy the first time - it was just like that for me. I wasn't lazy or stupid or slovenly or mentally ill, and I had plenty of will power, but seemed helpless against whatever it was prevented me from stopping it. The difference for all of us now is that we have a gastric sleeve that sort of levels the playing field. It doesn't have to be the way it was. By now, all of us vets who have been successful know what it takes to lose weight (and it's unique for each of us in many ways), so we are no longer helpless! What a liberating thought! I like knowing I actually DO have power over this now, and I'm in control.

You have identified your issue, and now you are working on it. You are using your power. Others on here give good advice on how to do that, but I just wanted to say I can identify with your "terror". It's still what my nightmares are made of...until I remember I'm not a victim of obesity now. Good luck and keep us posted.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
