BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 8, 2014 An EGD was not on my order for pre-surgery testing I had to get done. I did get an upper GI though. I got my surgery date today and she told me over the phone that with the Upper GI the doc probably won't require the EGD. I am hoping not because I only have 2 weeks until surgery. I will find out tomorrow. Luckily it doesn't sound too bad based on what you guys are saying! I had the upper GI as well. Nearly barfed up the barium because it already taste nasty but the positioning and re-positioning was triggering my BPPV (vertigo). Sorry to hear about the delays for you guys. On the positive side it's best to take these precaution to ensure you have the most positive outcome possible.
AmandaPal 19 Posted December 8, 2014 My experience was weird. They gave me the drugs, I walked in and laid down and they put a mouth guard in and put the scope down. I walked out. The weird part is I remember telling my grandma (who was with me) about what they did but a few hours later I didn't remember the procedure; I just remembered what I told my grandma what had occurred. No pain but as others have mentioned, I slept all day and was very drowsy. Good luck!
