brown eyed gal 59 Posted December 1, 2014 If you are able, without it hurting, to drink fast, is it okay to do so? I find myself gulping and it doesn't hurt but I was wondering if there was another reason for not drinking fast? Thanks!
kelly lynn 19 Posted December 1, 2014 I'm able to do more than sip as well... I share your question
snowkitten 371 Posted December 1, 2014 Good question, and I'd love to know what the experienced have to say. Ive been able to drink pretty fast. I can't chug an entire bottle of Water at once like I could before, but I have no issues drinking 1/4 a bottle at a time. No sipping for me!
cornhusker 115 Posted December 1, 2014 I can drink a gulp. More than sipping.
Jolisue 112 Posted December 2, 2014 I'm able to drink almost as before, but as I gulp, I remember I'm not supposed to do that anymore! Then I stop myself. It is strange, but sometimes I wonder if I actually had the surgery...
MisR 13 Posted December 2, 2014 Can I ask how far post op everyone on is ? Cause I'm able to do like a small mouth full at once & I'm scared I've done stretched my pouch ... But I'm not in no way getting the fluids I should be . I'm 6 days post op & worried I've done messed something up. I can take about 2oz maybe at one time but if I sip I can do a little more . Any one else doing the same ?

cornhusker 115 Posted December 2, 2014 I'm about 8 weeks out. Early on I wondered a couple times if I'd actually has the surgery. Usually when I drank some Water. But most every time I eat I'm reminded it really did happen. lol. Drinking is just easier for me I guess. But I also don't overdue it.
wildGoose 207 Posted December 2, 2014 sometimes i forget, and gulp. but then my chest hurts a lot. so i slow down, and force myself to drink smaller "sips" and wait while i feel it do down my throat. i wish i could drink faster because sometimes i get distracted and don't get to drink as much as i need to. i worry about that. Darla Bramel Cochran 3 Posted December 3, 2014 (edited) I think everyone is different. I can gulp, but it makes my stomach hurt a bit afterwards. I think I was told that gulping causes air bubbles in the new pouch just like a straw would. I try not to do this, although when I'm really thirsty I have to really watch myself. Cold Water or drink really makes my stomach hurt as well. I'm six weeks post op. Edited December 3, 2014 by Darla Bramel Cochran
