into my 3rd week need advice

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I had VGS Nov 13 in Mexico with Dr Rodriguez. Ive had some complications with my sleeve being to tight , Hospitalization from dehyration etc. I am finally back to work today i feel fine but am having problems with burping still and dont quite know the feeling of being full, Does anyone know how to describe what it feels like. I am on the first day of my 3rd week I am still doing liquids and some puree foods. I am not getting in a whole lot of Protein but cant stand the thought of ground up chicken. I decided to do one extra week on liquids since my stomach was so swollen, any recomendations on what to eat that pureed and half decent? Also what should I take for the burping? I switched to zantac seems to help a bit more then what I was sent home with. When should I start working out like walking on the treadmill? Any advice helps, Thanks

I've seen a lot of people doing refried Beans for Protein if they can't stomach the mushie chicken, etc.

Have you tried some tylenol for inflammation? I did the cream of Tomato Soup and

cream of wheat during my puree phase. I had my VSG 11-6 and have started adding refried Beans w/ cheese a bit of salsa. OH..take gas ex chewables they saved me from being so bloated. Full for me is like pressure on my rib cage. I add GENEPRO to darn near everthing to get in my Protein, and sip, sip, sip.

Hi

Refried Beans are a good source of Protein I love Mexican so this works well

so one of my meals the I make is refried Beans, cheddar cheese warmed together

then I add plain greek yogurt to the top. this meal gives me 22 grams of Protein

Plain greek is a terrific substitute for sour cream.

I also eat mashed potatoes and mix them with milk and shredded parmesan cheese

and greek yogurt. I also add unflavored protein.

Cottage cheese egg salad are pretty good too and I add unflavored protein

Hope this Helps

Yes the refried Beans are usually pretty creamy, if they aren't add a touch

of chicken broth to thin them, or salsa. I put a 1/2 a scoop of GENEPRO,

stir it up then add thin slices of 2% sharp cheddar on top.

I got my GENEPRO from I'll pump you up.com. Good luck it gets better.

Hi! I'm over 4 weeks out and was also sleeved in Mexico.

The full feeling was a little harder to feel on puree unless it had meat in it. I measured everything and ate 1/4 cup. I loved Taco Bell's pinto Beans and cheese. Mmmmm. I also put skim ricotta, Tomato sauce and fresh basil in my processor then heated it up and melted mozzarella on top. I also cooked turkey chili and processed the mess out of it and that was the first time I truly felt full and couldn't finish the serving.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
