UnJury protein... is it any good?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at getting some Protein powders to have on hand when I start making my smoothies again. I need to start introducing them to my diet again. I need the fiber! Since "UnJury" is in my face on BariatricPal.... wondering what it tastes like. Does it have a medicinal aftertaste? I'm going to order a few of the single servings to try but figured I would ask beforehand.

Anyone have any opinions on the Unjury protein powders, let me know!

Thanks!!

This is the only Protein powder I use. Not only is there no medicinal aftertaste, it is 100% Protein isolate, which is most absorbable. Thumbs up!

I really like Unjury - their chocolate splendor flavor is the least medicine-y and whey-y tasting Protein I have found. It is very light, almost like Nesquik or something like that.

Another two thumbs up for unjury -- best, smoothest tasting Protein shake. I like the chocolate splendor, too, and the vanilla tastes like melted ice cream.

Good stuff!

@@Ginger Snaps @Bufflehead @BeagleLover - Thank you! thank you! I will order some single servings of the chocolate and vanilla this afternoon. I also want to try the strawberry Sorbet one to put in my lemonade. I appreciate the feedback!

@Rocky1Understood and I've tried a few powders that I just didn't like. Just looking for some feedback is all. I'm sure one person's "DELICIOUS!" will be another person's "GROSS!".

unjury, here too. But if you are looking specifically for Fiber in a liquid or soluable form, you would get 3X as much with Benefiber or even Walgreen's knock-off brand, and you could add it to anything you want.

I'm an Unjury user also. I tried several different kinds, but didn't like them. I ordered Unjury's sample pack. I have to say, I didn't care for the unflavored or the chicken Soup ( never a favorite of mine). When I placed my first order, I decided to try a canister of the chocolate Classic (it doesn't come in the sample pack). I like it better than the Chocolate Splendor. The Splendor is a little to sweet for me. I even like the strawberry Sorbet and strawberry flavored drinks have never been one I like! The Vanilla is excellent!

@@Miss Mac - I was going to go that route and I didn't. Maybe I'll go get some Benefiber or something too. Thanks for that reminder!

I know I'm in the minority around here, but I can't stand it. The strawberry was so nasty I spit it out.

I use the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury here too. I like the vanilla and the chocolate splendor with PB2 added to it. I also like to add less milk and more ice, makes it feel like melted ice cream or a real thick shake. :)

My husband and 15yr old daughter both use the Unjury at least 4-5 times a week. They add yogurt and fruit to theirs. They really like them.

@@CheleLynn45 - that's my plan with the chocolate powder. I bought some PB2 and I want to make a chocolate/PB "shake".

I use unjury and like it best. I add a tablespoon of chia seeds for the added Fiber to any flavor, or orange flavored Fiber powder (Walgreens sugar free brand) to the vanilla Unjury to make a creamsickle shake.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
