I have ms

@@jmscout6

i do not have MS, i can't tell you other peoples experiences

but i wanted to respond to your post :)

i see B) you are a newbie

WELCOME WELCOME to SLEEVELAND :)

you on your way to a healthier, happier, longer life :)

who deserves it more?? :)

you will probably experience many different emotions between now and surgery

excited. happy, nervous, scare, anxious - maybe 2nd thoughts

these emotions are common to many who are about to enter "sleeveland"

you chose the sleeve, so you are definitely a smart cookie :)

i'm sure you have already/or plan to talk to your surgeon about MS and the sleeve

he can help you with questions and hopefully ease your mind

maybe your doc has a former patient that had MS

first hand knowledge would be helpful/ great

i'm sure you have done plenty of research about the sleeve

read this board thoroughly

wonderful people here

you'll read lots of good questions and great answers

you "might" ;) find some questions you were thinking of too

there is also a search button in the top right hand corner :)

good luck

speedy recovery

kathy

Hi JM!

I have MS, (relapsing remitting) my surgery is scheduled for February 3rd as my last two surgery dates were cancelled due to a bad relapse back in July. I had very bad vertigo and went numb on my whole left side. Did two rounds of steroids to calm the inflammation of the nerves but I am doing fine now. I see your surgery is tomorrow and wish you the best of luck as I will say a prayer for a quick recovery and relapse free. The MS will not kill you it is just very unpredictable which sucks. My trigger is stress as I found that out 4 yrs. ago when I was first diagnosed. We can talk more once you recover. I think this surgery will provide more benefits to us that have this chronic disease as I am looking forward to becoming more energetic and healthier. God Bless!

I have MS as well, and I am working on starting all the evaluations. I haven't spoke with my Neuro yet, but I am sure he will be supportive. My family is worried that having surgery will cause a flare (RRMS as well) and I'll be in more "trouble" than just recovering from surgery. I hope both of you had successful surgeries.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
