Jcmo I haven't been able to find sugar free Popsicles anywhere!!! I can find no sugar added....

My saviour has been pho broth. I can totally see how people have breakdowns, I've been having mini ones and deep revelations about myself every few days. I'm so desperate for a bite of something- right now it's a hamburger or shawarma. Fortunately (I guess) my parents have been really adamant that I don't put anything in my mouth that isn't on the list. I can't wait for surgery and afterwards I feel like it will be so different and as you say the challenges will be very different.

Thanks for the words @@jcmo

And

Congrats on meeting the surgeon @@anewme15 very exciting :)

Jcmo these 5 days can't past fast enough. I'm so done with the Optifast and this liquid diet. I'm trying to distract myself as much as possible because I keep thinking about how badly I want to eat a sandwich. I feel like the after op challenges will be less mental and more logistical.

Bring on Thursday! :)

@kcadoret. I totally know how you feel. The sad part is you will be on liquids/soft foods for a long time. But at least you will have a few different flavours.

I'm 20days post up and pretty much still eat yogurt and Soup. I have tried deli meat, didn't sit well. Tried tuna. It was ok but still felt weird. food is definitely a challenge post op. But you aren't physically hungry. It's more head hunger. I am nauseous or queasy a lot. But that seems to be the new norm. I haven't vomited yet so that's good.

I know we have lots of challenges to overcome, but we can do it. ????

Had my first Optifast shake this morning. Was not as bad as I expected. This is somewhat encouraging. It was chocolate flavoured. I will try the vanilla later today.

@@Tintin I like the vanilla shake with a mixture of Water and coffee. The chocolate is also nice with some peppermint or coffee.

Best of luck :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
