Chocolate Butterfly 2 Posted November 30, 2014 Hello. I'm just starting my 6 month journey to be approved. I was told by others to prepare myself for a huge increase in self esteem and unexpected haters (people that you thought would be happy for you, but turn into frienemies). Would any of you like to share your experiences & thoughts? I'm just trying to prepare myself for all of these changes.

I believe because I only shared with my mother, sisters, and close friends my decision to have weight loss surgery. I believe if you know your friends then you know who would be the one. If someone tries or tried to talk you out of the surgery then watch them. The weight loss isn't drastic. Faster than the average diet and exercise but not instant. I'm two weeks out and have already loss 30lbs. I didn't have to do a 6month approval process. Stay away from comfort food and build you great support system. IcanMakeit 1,318 Posted November 30, 2014 I have not experienced this personally, but from reading this site I have noticed that this is a common problem. People are used to you being in a certain box, and they don't like it when you want to change. A lot of people get their self esteem from comparing themselves to others, including relative weights. If you weigh the same or less, they feel diminished. You'll have to be on the lookout for this so that you don't let their negativity derail your efforts. angewil60 65 Posted December 5, 2014 It doesn't matter what you do people are going to talk. I told some but sometimes your own family can be your worst enemy. Let them talk you have to stay strong for you and keep on working because this journey doesn't stop we will keep fighting until the end but know we are here for you. redvet 39 Posted November 17, 2015 @@Chocolate Butterfly, I have told some people that I will be having the surgery and a few of them have said, why do you need that you look fine or someone actually said "you can't be smaller than me" and someone said just be careful people have died from that, now I wish I hadn't said anything to anybody, but I am a positive person and I know this is the best thing for myself and my health. Good luck and let's keep In touch.
