So tell me are still hungry after have sleeve Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I had surgery almost a month a go. I do not feel hunger. I have had some "head hunger" where I just want to eat but that passes with drinking Water or eating a SF Popsicle. I LOVE that I can only eat 1/4 cup or less of food at mealtime. :)

I am 4 months out. I do get hungry. Starving, sometimes. But it's all over in about 6 bites.:-)

I didn't get hungry for about the first nine months after surgery but I do get hungry now. As long as I eat the right things to satiate the hunger -- meat and green veggies - it is very easy to just eat a little and the hunger goes away.

Ditto to bufflehead. I had No appetite first 3-4 months. Hunger definitely kicked in about 7-8 months, but Protein and veggies fill me up pretty quick. Head hunger and old cravings started about 10 months, but so far so good at satisfying those with healthy options.

i also had no appetite for about 3 months post op...then one day it showed back up!

the good thing, like others have said is that it takes about 5-6 bites and it's all good. i LOVE that.

i have also found that because my eating schedule was set to every 2-3 hours after surgery, i find myself needing to 'feed' about every 2 hours on que!~

I'm a 2-3 hour feeder, too. Have been from the beginning. Really no distinction between meals and Snacks.

You'll probably have a small window of a few months to get the new eating habits down pat. Learning to both want and enjoy eating healthy foods. Add in a few new snack ideas, like almonds and Jerky and you should be good for the long haul later on.

I'm not gonna blow smoke up your a$$.......it does get tough, so you have to as well. Hold on tightly to every pound lost and don't slide back into old habits. Your new eating habits will see you thru. ;)

I had my surgery just 5 days ago. Initially I felt a little hungry since I am still on liquid diet. But it's not too much, and I can survive. It is clearly old habits coming back, since I normally feel that only when I am alone at night...

I'm not sure if I'm hungry or not. I'm 5 days out today and was released on full liquids, but haven't really been exercising those options. I've been having a lot of stomach cramps, especially when drinking. I wonder if that's just what hungry feels like right now, because after a tablespoon of yogurt (on the "okay" list), the cramping stopped.

I'm probably a little too early to give you a solid answer, but I don't really get hungry. I'm 2 weeks post-op, so thats probably more normal. I get these little bursts of hunger that I think are more like rumbles in my stomach than anything, but they go away quickly so I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
