Yep, you are normal. I was cold as hell after surgery. I stayed wrapped up in my bathrobe and a comforter. Recovering from surgery, detoxing from the anesthesia and blood thinners, and not being able to eat is a big one two punch to the body. Every resource is going to healing.

I am a year post-op...a year ago I was cold all the time. I wish I could say a year later things have changed - not so much. I am writing this with wool socks, Under Armour Storm (fleece lined) pants, sweatshirt and blanket.

But I will say...I'll take the cold over the 75 pounds I've lost!

I get the ABSOLUTE fun of being freezing cold and then BOOM a hot flash and I am sweating.

Being a woman going through "the change" after having WLS sure makes life interesting.

I also get the joy of "menopause brain".

Can't wait until this phase of my life is over.

Freezing, then hot, then back to freezing. OY!

Blessings,

Kathleen

Were you anemic prior to surgery?

So glad to have found this topic! I thought I was getting sick or something. The thermostat says 72, my skin says "Antarctica", lol.

I have had to wear fleece leggings under my pants daily since surgery and still want a blanket when I am sitting around the house . I will take cold over fat but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Check your local Walmart for fleece leggings. Ours has had them for a while and they are $9 a pair and by far the best money I have spent in a long time.

It took me two years after I lost 100 pounds for my body temp to reach equilibrium. After that I still got cold but not the bone chilling cold I experienced during my rapid weight loss.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
