I am a little over one month post op and I never had issues with getting nausea or throwing up. But the last 4 days, seems I can only keep about one meal a day down. As soon as I start eating, I feel sick. Usually Breakfast is the only meal I can keep down. This morning was a different story. I don't eat fast. I eat my 1/4 a cup of food. And the stuff I been eating is stuff I've eaten since I could eat regular foods with zero issues. Anyone experience this before?

I had issues keeping some foods down. I thought my problem was taking too big of bites of foods and the foods still not being soft enough. It is not a nice feeling. Everything and than some comes back up. I started really cutting my portions really, really small. For example, I eat a lot of deli meat and I started getting it shaved instead of just sliced thinly. also add a bit of a sauce to it ( buffalo/Greek yogurt is my favorite) to make it even softer.

Some things I could tolerate once but the next time came back up. I'm not sure why. I just think, for me, I was taking too big of bites of food. Even though I thought I wasn't, I believe it was the case for me.

I'm in the same spot your in and I've learned that there are just some foods that I once loved that right now don't work for me. I also have to usually trap myself in my bedroom if someone is cooking something that has a strong smell as it makes me nauseated. Trust it gets easier and learn to take smaller bites.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
