Hello! My recliner was my bed for a week or so after being banded... but, I planned it that way.

I took GasX chewables, used a heating pad and took the liquid pain meds every 4 hours my Dr prescribed.

I hear walking helps tremendously, maybe start with a short 10 minute walk and build up 5 min each time you go?

If it persists, don't hesitate to call your Dr. The staff is there to help.

All the best,

Karla

Walking as much as you can, and drinking Water are the best things. If you have some shoulder pain, a heating pad can help a lot. I slept in the recliner for a few days too!

The same thing happend to me, but like everyone else said, walking around, drinking Water, etc really does help. The recliner was my best friend for a week after surgery. Good luck with your band!

llowe...something an ER doc told me to do...

Get on all fours....lower your head down to ground...support your stomach and chest with pillows, leaving your butt up in the air. This seems to let out alot of gas pressure that is built up under rib cages and from sleeping in recliners...that is what I did and I felt better immediately..I have had MANY MANY private messages telling me thank you for posting this, it has helped a great many people...I think it works for some and maybe not for others...its worth a try. I found that kneeling down on my bed kinda moved the gas around. I also would on all fours while hugging a pillow... it would dislodge the gas from under my ribs and slowly work its way.... out. :-)

Gas-x helped a little once the trapped gas started moving out from under my ribs.

Walking also helped. Slow walking... don't over do it...

I agree w/ the others....walking, Water & kneeling on all fours on your bed as much as you can tolerate it helps tremendously. I was banded on May 9th & today is the first day I actually dont have any gas pains. So hang in there, they will go away.

I was banded May 16, 2007 and I am in alot of pain in my abdominal area. The incisions are sore but I feel like the gas is the worse pain so far. Today was the first day I had a bowel movement and it was mostly diarrhea and very painful (sorry to be so graphic). I am down 3 lbs from my weight right before my surgery 3 days ago. I have been drinking Water, ensure, broth, and I tried mashed eggs which wasn't good at all (I regret that choice). Can anyone help me? I am feeling so bad

Thanks everyone.

I'm going to the chemist as soon as it opens.. it's early Sunday morning here.

This web site is very useful - better than calling the doctor - since you all have been thru this too !

Have a good day

Hi LP...

eggs sound like the worse idea yet.. that would completely block you.

Over here in Aussie we are told 4 weeks of just liquids after banding, then 2 weeks of mushy food, then 2 weeks of small normal food.. then you get your first fill.

I have been having Protein Shakes, drinking yogurt, fruit & vege juice, jelly & thin custard... as well as vitiamin & fish oil capsules with HOT Water.< /p>

I've had no problems so far.

I've lost about 20 pounds so far.. that's including the 2 weeks of strict diet before the surgury.

Hope this is some help.

There are lots of good ideas given here to help, like walking and drinking Water, and the kneeling (I had not heard of that, but it sounds like a good thing). Just know, that EVERY day gets better. I had my surgery May 10th, and was feeling very alone with my pains until I found this site. Lots of us seem to have variations of the same nasty problem, the stomach gas! Be patient, take the pain meds, and walk around. Concentrate on the water. Good luck!

Hello, I was banded on Friday and seem to have similar problems with gas cramps. I've been walking alot and also sleeping on my recliner. I can hear my belly rumble alot since yesterday morning, so I've been turning from side to side while lying in bed and this seems to help. Today I don't seem to have as much problems with it. The soreness seems to be leaving and I'm alittle less afraid to bear down to pass gas. I've debated on taking some Gas-X .

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
