Seven months post op & I'm down about 80 pounds. I've noticed that I'm not dropping as much weight but my sizes are down, which is expected. Walking & Portion Control is my main focus. About a month ago I noticed problems processing potatoes... Mashed, in Soups, baked, etc. When I was on puree mashed potatoes were a major item for me then. A few days ago for thanksgiving I tried again & it was fine. What's the deal? And we're talking same format & very little seasoning so I can't say it's a difference between when I can & can't. Anyone else experience these issues or is my sleeve so picky? Also even as clear liquid diet I never could keep drinking the same thing. If I try eating the same things now... Leftovers or drinks, besides Water, I gag & get the urge to regurgitate.

I never met a potato that I didn't like! Since surgery almost a year ago (12/23/2013) I have to ration my potato consumption just like other starches......I keep it at one serving a week. I hate that, but carbs are the devil for me. If I go over 40, I will not lose any weight for the next three days. Sad but true. I was sick for a couple of days earlier in the month and made some home-made potato Soup.......so delicious. But I used to be able to eat beyond reason, and this time I made and ate one serving, about 2/3 cup. My taste buds were not done, but Miss Tummy was and she is the boss of me!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
