Rny Ontario Canada December 12

Recommended Posts

Hi! Im from Ontario :) Toronto to be more specific. I had my surgery on December 2nd and had to be on Optifast for 3 weeks... And the supplier only had vanilla flavoured shakes, so it was a nightmare. It was truly rough for me, I don't like milky drinks and the consistency of the shakes would make me gag and tear up every time. I was supposed to take 4 per day but sometimes only managed 3 because I hated the taste so much...but time went by and taking one day at a time helps. Just keep reminding yourself that you want your surgery to be easy and successful and that will keep you motivated. By the end of the 3 weeks I was chugging those bad boys down without thinking about it and lost 10lbs :) you can do it!!!

@@newjules I'm from Toronto Ontario and will be having my surgery on January 9th. I'M on 3 weeks of Optifast too. The only flavour they had was chocolate.....I have to mix the powder with Water and it's not that bad.

Yeah I know chocolate is the easiest of the two so you are lucky! Good luck with your surgery :D

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
