don't know if the coffee is okay

@@kelseycakes20

all docs say different things to their patients :)

as with everything related to your sleeve - ask and listen only to your doc

my doc didn't limit my intake on coffee

always loved the smell of coffee - ahhhh wonderful

but i never cared for the taste

my taste buds didn't change much

except now i love coffee :)

i have one cup almost every morning :)

i enjoy drinking it now

and it makes my tummy full and happy ;)

hope you get your wish and have some coffee sooner than later :)

kathy

good luck :)

They actually didn't say anything about decaffeine haha only caffeine. Have been sipping my first cup of coffee in a looooong time. I quit caffeine about 3-4 weeks before surgery and just stayed away from coffee since then as well. Definitely enjoying this! Lol ????

I could have it right away. I know some people may have trouble with drinks of different temperatures. One thing I add to mine is sugar free flavored Syrup to make it really yummy. :)

That's a good, I want to go get the stevia flavoring to put in my coffee

I drink 1/2 caffeine 1/2 Decaf coffee every morning. My NUT said the reason they want you to stay away from caffeine is because it feeds hunger. But I've not had any issues thus far. I'm about 15wks post surgery

I was cleared for decade coffee the day after surgery. It fell under my clear liquid group. Once I had my leak check the morning following surgery I could have the Decaf just was restricted to one ounce per hour for several hours and wasn't bumped up to the next level until the next day where I was allowed to sip sip sip all day long. My sleeve was 11-4 and if I desire coffee I can have a cup anytime but I assure you it takes me forever to get those 8oz down lol

coffee allowances seem very plan-specific. I'm not supposed to have any, but I still have a few sips of my husband's coffee every day (regular). It seems like some plans allow you to have regular coffee as long as you can tolerate the acid. When I go to my doctor's appointment on the 12th, I'm going to ask him about regular coffee. I really want to get an official ok on this and not just feel like a big cheaty cheaterson every time I have a sip.

Can you put any type of sweetner in the Decaf coffee?

I was told zero calorie sweeteners are fine.

I was one of those people @@Bufflehead speaks of. I was given regular black tea in the hospital as part of my liquid meal! But still, I didn't start back on coffee until I was about a month post op. Now I put my Protein Powder in it. In fact my nut suggested it since she knew that post op the shakes with milk tasted gross to me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
